Happy birthday Snowy.
You certainly have aged more gracefully than those riding buddies of yours 😆
Enjoy your day.STM

Sat phone and Spot are not mutually exclusive. Based on the trip you are planning I would say take both if you can.
The Spot is a great tracker that can keep loved ones in the loop but you can not talk to them without a Sat phone. Should things turn sour it is a lot easier to hit the SOS button on your Spot than it is to dial a Sat phone and explain.
Sat phone for comfort, Spot for emergencies.STM

Cheers Mal.
S12 front and the Dunlop 51 out back. I will bring my own water and see if that helps. :laugh:STM

Is it fair to say that as we are based at Mary’s camp and not riding in this year we will miss the super rocky sections. I am contemplating a brand new S12.STM
No it’s not fair to say mate.
You will be riding super rocky sections. It Sunny Corner you have to ride rocks. :woohoo:
There will be some stationary rock sections, aka Boot Hill and lots of loose rock sections aka 2 Steps and the other hills in that area.
A new S12 will be close to shagged by the end of the weekend. But then again you didn’t ride the Sunday morning loop last year (I think you were still drinking) so you maybe ok.
Good point Mal
Looks like I am leaving that brand new S12 in the garage for this one. I have a new Dunlop M51 sitting next to it so I will fit that.
Shame to miss the morning loop last year but I think the can of fully loaded I had for dinner must have been past its use by date as I felt a bit sick late Saturday night and it continued well into Sunday.
The ride back to Capertee on Sunday was a big enough mission considering my state. Luckliy this year is catered so I am guaranteed fresh food so that I don’t get sick again. :whistle:STM
Hey Mal/ Galey,
Is it fair to say that as we are based at Mary’s camp and not riding in this year we will miss the super rocky sections. I am contemplating a brand new S12.STM
S12 front and rear if you don’t mind getting through rear tyres a bit quicker or compromise with an S12 front and an MX Extra on the back. That combo will give you more miles and do the job but not the supreme hook up of an S12 rear.

Nickj didn’t get any footage through Kokoda as his million dollar goggles were hanging round his neck and his heavy breathing had fogged them up. We battled our way through and all pitched in to drag each other through the slippery trail. By the time we got out I needed to hit a main trail and get some air on me so we didn’t stop until we had all cooled down a bit. The bikes showed no sign of over-heating but we were close.
We soon had our energy back and hit up some more good trails as the sun started to drop lower on the horizon. We stayed out for another hour and then headed back to my garage for a hard earned beer and loaded up the boys bikes for the trip home.
It was a great afternoon out but I look forward to the end of the summer grass. It has turned some of the singles into mystery trails and you are always scanning for a possible log at the wrong angle. It will die off as soon as we get a few cold nights and as long as Lantana Man gets out here and does his thing it looks like we have a great winter of riding ahead.
Thanks for a great day boys and I look forward to doing it all agin soon.STM
Cheers for the intro and welcome to the site Powderman.

Legend has it there is a “hill climb assist” button sequence only XR owners know (L indicator + horn then high beam or something like that). The rider doesnt need to be on the bike. In fact they climb best when rider is being dragged by the boots behind…..
I’ve already seen a shot of Bol getting dragged behind his CRF450 so maybe he found that button!
It was only a better of time. :laugh:STM
Hi XR Boy

Welcome to the site mate!
Shame about the gravel rash. That sounds, ummm…. Shitty
You are in good company with LC. Hang with him on the trails and your riding will improve quickly. Hang with him in the bar and your organs will deteriorate just as quickly
Enjoy OBT and I look forward to meeting you out there one day.STM
