Hey fellas I often drive down to ride at Lockyer State Forest and I would say that it would be roughly much the same distance drive from Sunshine Coast or southside of Brisbane. It is the usual reg and license needed ride area(and does get patrolled)and has plenty of variety. I have added some pics to show bits of what it is like, although the pic of the KTM is off edge of track so its not a hillclimb:ohmy: just a KTM thats a little wayward:laugh:

Also plenty of ST to be had. Next time I come down I will post a ride Date and Time if anyone is interested.
In the meantime here are directions to it.
    Lockyer State Forest

Lockyer State Forest, car park at eastern end of forest reserve.

    Latitude S27°28.755′
    Longitude E152°18.280′

    Lockyer

From Brisbane follow the Warrego highway (ie head to Toowoomba) just past the huge BP/McDonalds before Gatton, take the Gatton-Esk Road exit, then at the roundabout turn right so that you are heading back over the highway (the Hwy exit spits you straight into a roundabout). Follow for about 10 mins, then turn left into Millers Rd (2nd left), it turns into a dirt road almost immediately, follow this along, it will turn left, then it will turn right, and then left over a cattle grid, you are now in the forest, follow the road along for about a kilometre and there is a carpark on the right hand side.

Also coordinates for the old MX track at the top of the hill from the car park are:
    Latitude S27°25.673′
    Longitude E152°15.293′

Or in Sunshine Coast case I go out Beerwah-KIlcoy road through to Esk and take Gatton turn-off and follow until Millers road turn-off on right. Quick note Millers road is now bitumen and when you get to end turn left as right will take you into new prison grounds and security are there:S

Oops missed this one last night:dry: . Pretty much as husky610 said I was keen for a ride but nightshift the night before seen a late in the day start. All was going well and I was feeling a bit more comfortable 2nd time around on tracks and trying to push a little harder, which nearly got ugly at some of the slush holes getting all locked up trying to not go in and disappear. Was looking like a great ride with new tracks and we were slowly working in a circle to the challengers at the towers when a nail ruined the run:blink: . As it was getting late and I had already put in an order for a new tyre next week anyway decided to just trundle on home with it flat, just skirting the edge of the good stuff at the towers:(. As for a ride up here maybe one day we can work on that plenty of room for tents here and bikes and cars blah blah :). No pics this run too much of a rushed start:side: .

To Roost or Not to Roost, therein lays the dilema. What or if any, are the rules and accepted guide lines to roosting your ride buddy? Do you just Fill em in when opportunity arises…or is it the given thing to be respectable and be polite about how many and what size rocks/sand/Mud, you hand out? Is there a P.C. approach to this?

    Was it something I done?:S

If so sorry mate I tend to focus on whats ahead and not whats happening behind…….even to the point of forgetting rear wheel spin throws things:blush: .

All good mate ……. ended up just riding home no reception everytime I stopped(bloody vodaphone). Killed the sidewall but that was always going to be the last ride for that tyre anyway, got plenty of practise riding sideways standing up:) and found between 30 and 40 kph easy enough. Pity the nail wrecked our run was having some fun…..sorry about that:S. Must have been a rain cell just for Churchill mines Rd. as I had dry run home and only area that was wet when we set out was there only .

BTW rode a killer beautifully prepared ’08 CRF450, almost made me want some extra valves in my bike, best damn thing I have ever slung a leg over.

A mate had an 03 Crf450r(this was his first ever bike and he bought it to learn on:ohmy: ) and wanted reg so got a 450x but while he had both talked me into going out for a ride on the R and the buzz I got off that is what firmly glued me back onto a bike seat again:woohoo:
