Almost forgot to give AdventureMoto a big Thank You for the CruzTOOLS kit that Kat won for “manning-up” and taking on Jacobs Ladder, and clearing it, first try!
It’s probably well known that Kat carries a comprehensive tool-kit where-ever she goes…(some are even bike related)…and a few months back I lost my tool-roll out the bottom of my pack, while out riding…so Kat presented me with the CruzTOOLS kit…how nice…I even get to use them anytime her bike breaks down…Check ’em out at AdventureMoto: https://www.adventuremoto.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=73&products_id=2336
February 8, 2014 at 11:27 am in reply to: rideadv.com.au Wauchope / Nambucca return Navigation Ride number 1 #253786As much as I love getting the maps out and spending hours on Google Earth wondering if I can get from one track to another, without feeling “the sting of hot lead”…it’s just so nice to go on a rideADV.com.au excursion where everything is taken care of. Thanks a bunch to TB at http://www.rideadv.com.au/ , Wolfie at https://www.adventuremoto.com.au/ ,https://www.yamaha-motor.com.au/ and all the OBT Crew.
The accommodation was comfortable to say the least.

Luckily, the sign out the front was inaccurate.
rideADV decends on Taylors Arm Pub.
John and Kat are pumped after climbing the infamous Jacobs Ladder.
Kat, (without her GPS), started to wonder if she’d gotten off the route when the trail narrowed to an overgrown, obviously disused track in the middle of nowhere…the signature of a rideADV course…and started beeping the horn when she couldn’t raise me on the 2way…(I had my helmet off to open the gate for her!)
On the valley floor, the country was spectacular.
The view from “behind the wheel” of the General Lee.
Not all ADV rides finish by the sea…Kat takes us to a pub by the ocean…she just happens to know!
Kat decides a “pub run” is in order and powerslides out of the carpark to pick up some wine and Bundys to be enjoyed by the pool.
Then, she clicks into party mode with an LBD and a sauvignon blanc, while Deej and the support crew get this Tiger back in the game.
After a few beers, the bench racing kicked into high gear.
The “nerve centre” of the whole operation.
With this many riders…you do NOT want to run Corner Man System in the dust.
Kat enters the forest…wondering what it will be like descending Jacobs Ladder.
TB tells Kat to HTFU and get down that hill!
Kat…suffering from “Danger Sign Anxiety”
The father and son team almost lost a member after the young L plater drifted wide on a corner and the only thing stopping him dropping out of sight was a couple of small saplings!
Then, Brett, from Dunedoo, threw his XR650 up the road.
and did some mental rehearsal…to figure out where it all went wrong.
John…blasting along the singles beside the highway.
The rest of the ride was a blur of fire trails and erosion humps…’til we wheeled into the Brokeback Ridge compound to a refreshing shower and even MORE refreshing beers!
Top job, guys…thanks to everyone for a great weekend. (TB, Steve, Pete, Dejay, Brett, Mark and our “Lord and Liege” King Strucky…get well soon).
Cheers, Mick.February 3, 2014 at 10:05 am in reply to: rideadv.com.au Wauchope / Nambucca return Navigation Ride number 1 #253830Any news on King Strucky??

What a great ride…it’s an absolute pleasure to go riding with an enthusiastic group that are out there just for the sheer fun of it…without the underlying competition that a ride with “the boys” can sometimes bring…don’t get me wrong, I love the play racing, piss taking and showing off and all (that’s half the fun of dirt bike riding), but I still get a real kick out of introducing newer riders to the pleasures of the bush…watching them gain confidence with every hill conquered…but with the conditions we got on this ride, I was beginning to doubt all our sanity.
Thanks, everyone for a top ride (especially our support crew of sweeps/mechanics/pickHERupers…Steve, Troy and Joe)…Cheers. Now, who does that remind me of???
How do you like this little ensemble…1980…Watagan Forest…’79 PE250…Bell Motostar 2 helmet…Tycon padded jersey…racing leathers…Alpine Star boots (with stainless steel shin plates!!)…pretty cool, huh?!
I’ve still got the boots…and still wear the leathers!setting the 625 up for single track for next weekend…swapped the 20 litre ADV tank for the standard 9 litre…switched the worn-out hard-pack tyres for some fresh soft terrain nobbies…geared it down some, via a 45 tooth rear….and SNAPPED the friggen chain adjustment bolt!!!…FAAAARRRRKKK!!!
August 13, 2012 at 10:58 pm in reply to: Kat & Amy’s APC ’12 – OBT – 2 chic’s, 14 day’s, 1 tent RR #227395I can’t say it was an “effort” riding down to Oberon to escort the APC LEGENDS home…it was a friggin hoot!…awesome sunset over Cattai Ridge road…blasting down the Bell Road after dark with the note of the 625 echoing off the rock walls!…top night in the Mount Vic Pub…then up early to roost Coxs River road…then exploring the pine forests around Oberon in the SNOW!
never the less…all that hardship was worth it to ride in with the girls, to complete their epic ride…with TB and Dejay as guard of honour…and then seeing Eagle there cheering them in…it really made it seem like a “finish” worthy of the event…well done Old Bulls…great stuff…I think TB may have got some dust in past his goggles…he seemed to have a bit of a tear in his eye…
cheers, Mick.

great to hear you made Urbanville (before the bar shut)…just keep at it…and keep having fun…after all that’s what it’s really all about.

I pressume Mick was using has safety sqwint while using the angle grinder… :unsure:Yeah…forgot to bring the safety glasses…the squint was working well, with sparks and metal shards just bouncing off my eyelashes…then I noticed TB’s technique of viewing everything through the bottom of a beer bottle!
looking forward to heading down to Wisemans tomorrow for the start on Saturday…wonder if it’s too late to call my boss and ask for 2 weeks off??
Hey Ian.
you got these off eBay, didn’t you…can you remember the seller?
PS: hope the leg is healing well…they can be a nasty injury…infection wise
get well soon, hey.cheers, Mick.
June 17, 2012 at 11:33 pm in reply to: Old Bull-ette’s (KatGirl & Flying Fish) do APC Rally 2012 #224443Excellent stuff Amy…looks like the bike prep is coming along great and we should be ready for some shake-down runs in the near future…seems the (cancelled) OBT weekend gave you a chance to test the camping gear in crap conditions, so you should be good to go. I’m not even going and I’m getting excited!!
Thanks everyone for your support and help for a couple of girls who epitomise the Aussie ethic of “giving it a go”.
