Next time you take it out, put the old cap back on and put the new one in your back pack. If it boils put the new one back on. This will let you know weather the cap is faulty Glad to hear it’s sorted.

Replace it with one the same rating to start with. Mine use to do this and all I did was wash and clean it.the coolant can cristalise under the seal. The reason for the overheating still needs to be addressed

Take the bike to a dealer that has the correct equipment to tune your bike. It is computer controlled and if it is getting hot it is probably running hot. Peg Leg had a similar problem with his 450 Gas Gas, it was all in the tuning.
