Well it’s underway, Lefty launched at half five and is flying. I spoke with him on the fly just on half six and he was in Lithgow :woohoo: That’s going real good :woohoo:

Hey tb do you need to remove tank to drill out rivets for dampner?

No You can do it in place, problem is the metal shavings go down under the tank

Well as previously mentioned the Longest Day is only around a week away and as many of you are aware I have already done this particular ride. So many of you are probably thinking WTF why do it again……Why ride constantly for hours on end in 40deg + heat heading west following the sun for no particular reason other than put miles on your machine, burn fuel and wear out tyres etc. and think that it is entirely pointless. Well each to their own eh….. and after having already completed 1 successful attempt in 2012 and realising what it actually takes to do this ride, for those who have not attempted this ride may not realise what it actually takes….. For me it is not only the physical challenge it is more the mental challenge of being able to ride for around 14hrs with only around 1hr of stops to eat and refuel along the journey as well as overcome any other challenges should they arise along the way. This is out of the norm and introduces other risks and probably unnecessary risks at that but this is what I love about the sport.
The other thing that i am going to enjoy about this particular ride, should it go to plan, is that I will be taking a couple of full days to return taking in some other parts of NSW that I have not seen.
So here is the 640 ready for launch……

    Cheers,
    Lefty

Yup and I will be watching from the high country. I will take my iPad for updates and same as 2012 I will ring the corner as you arrive and ask has a kid just pulled up on a KTM
Well done, ride safe you have done the prep enjoy the ride mate

thank you so much for you detailed info TB brilliant work.. my reason for my enquire is after a small off i destroyed speedo, sw motech crash bars, handelbars bent enough to annoy the crap out of me. water pump cover and radiator hose. i realigned forks and front wheel and removed and inspected bar risers in the hope they had just moved but its definately bent bars, so its time to give the cockpit a make over.

Does it look like this one did before I rebuilt it?

    Here Mick

Rally Moto 2 made by MSC Australia my opinion 7/10

    Damper_zps3a377508.jpg

This damper is an under bar style using the standard bar mounts. The damper requires bar raisers to clear the damper unit. They do supply bar raisers for standard 7/8 inch diameter bars. If you want to fit fat bars like I did on this bike I purchased a set of standard to fat bar raisers from Ballards. (the black parts in the photos)

Another option is a Scott damper with a mount kit from Off The Road Germany. I have fitted these for one of Steve’s bikes and a customers bike before. They are an under bar mount, with a bolt on bar mount that goes on top of the standard triple clamp when the standard bar mounts are removed. My opinion 6/10

You can also purchase these through Adventure Moto in the future with a much better mount system.

Lastly the Rally Moto Steering damper, the best in my opinion. Solid under bar mount great fat bar mount

Sadly you cant buy these anymore, its the one I run

How to fit a steering damper on a Tenere here please BTW you need only drill the heads of the steering lock sheer bolts, then lift the lock off. Once off use vice grips to wind the studs out. You need to remove the sheer bolts for all Tenere steering dampers to the best of my knowledge

As for fund raising we should run an online auction that could take place over a two week period. This gives everyone a chance to get involved and contribute. Between us all we will be able to source lots of cool products and services. There will be plenty of banter and gazumping and it could easily fund us for the next 12 months. I would be happy to keep a spreadsheet of products and bids and update it every few days. This means you could contribute by buying, by supplying or both.
If this goes ahead Woodseys Wheels will donate a bicycle to the value of $500!

    STM

    I’ll. Donate boony’s. Best goat…

Awesome Scott, I had thought about that after you rang the other day with the idea and yes I wanted to go with that I have just been so busy with the new bike and building my deck at home. Will ring you in a week or so when I have finished the deck. Thanks mate you are an ideas man.
