Seriously you guys how many hrs racing would be acceptable to you guys.

Couple of years ago at the Condo 750, the Yamaha desert factory team had two bikes one was a 2w2 one, after the first day the replace the cylinder heads on their 450’s, both of them, it was the last time I saw the factory supported team there, Crash, kiwi and myself had a sticky while in the work period. That was after 7hrs racing?

I think anyone thats been around racing lately and listened to four strokes banging on the limiter I would think 100hrs is great

Sorry TB, not saying that the GHR team are wrong – anyone who can make a (modern) Honda last 100 hours on valves is doing something right. I’m sure the one-use filters they use are better than the one I had is all I have to say about that!B)

Of course nobody uses a filter dry, you didn’t say that at all! You just mentioned that if we clean an air filter and let it dry then give it a bash you can see dust fly out of it. I tried it after you mentioned that and didn’t see any. I reckon if you clean an air filter properly then there is no dust in it and once it is oiled it should perform as well as a one-use filter.

These race teams obviously have budgets that eclipse mine so one-use filters are a better option for them than cleaning reusable filters.:woohoo:

I agree with ECKS. Also 100 hours out of a set of valves is terrible. If you clean your filter properly and it is in good conidtion then there is no reason you should have to worry about anything else. Adding a filter skin (whatever type) will just prolong the use of the filter. The extra tie you get before cleans is dependant on how good the skin is.

Hey steady on you guns and think for just a minute, thats 100hrs racing, on the limit, think about it boys 100hrs racing thats pretty impressive, check the videos of the GHR team racing, its not us riding around the forest stroking ourselves thinking we are going good.
How many hrs trail riding by equal to 100+ hrs racing guys. If you think its not dust related by the way they used to race the CRF250’s that Grabham won the Aussie Supermotard title over however many rounds and never had to adjust the valves and its because there is not dust! They bang them on the rev limiter all day yet no valve issues. Well thats what their engine builder said, but hey guys what would he know he only does it for a living! :P

Yeah Mick but I do that sort of riding all the time, just over half its wear was that ride, 125kms in the wet and mud of the watagans, it fair to think your going to get better than 350kms. Seeing how my bike is getting fingered for the blame would be good for Tiny to try one I reckon but yeah Hillend is rocky in spots, but Moto’s soft Michelin M12 did 600 + kms up there in the same terrain and is in better nick, and its a 450 race bike lol. Just my honest thoughts, I paid for it I bought it and its an honest opinion. I looked at your tyre when we got to Capertee on the way back and its in better nick than mine and it has done double the klms, in hard dry dusty terrain and is on a 630!

Try one of Ollie’s retreads, only thing is hard pack they suffer from knob flex, scares you at first but thats it, good thing for the coin. (ADB said the same thing Ollie) I will buy another and I got the first one for free  good value ;)

Sorry to hear that the retreads didnt work out for you,as you are the only one that I know of that has been disappointed in them.Including ADB,T&T DBW to mention a few,I have easily got 1000km out of a rear, but then again Im only riding on a bike with half the horsepower of what you are making:laugh: yes you are right the fronts are seriously good especially for $80 and the rears for the type of riding I do ie tight single trail I cant pick the difference. Thats probably why I have plenty of repeat customersB)

    ollieB)

Yeah have kept it and will show you check your thoughts. ADB’s write wasnt that good regarding the rear though I thought they had been very tactful. Horsepower shouldnt have worried it in the Watagans, mousses worked well with both, but 1000kms from a rear no way, would love for Tiny to try one on the chain saw maybe good for him, should talk to him B) Both handled some serious speed on the run into Hillend, people shouldnt worry about them with heat and speed hey Mick?

Shit I forgot yellow mountain :P , you got me, nah I am looking to just rev you as you have been quiet, whats doing with the rear retread cause if you havent ordered it I wont bother with a rear but will next time I need a front. The rears arent worth a knob of goat shit, they wear way to fast, mines done less than 350kms and is rooted, it has chunked badly and has no grip. Of the 350kms 125km was in the wet at the Watagans, not worth even the half price that they are. The front I will do a write up on am VERY happy with it and will run another ;) .

Hey Ollie you doing Yellow Mountain this year, and dont give me the two stroke thing, two strokes have won more Finkes than four strokes!
