I started this reply going to ask you how the boat trip was going Moto, as I think its Moto, but then I just read your reply to Mick regarding his XR and Moto wouldnt know his arse from his elbow around a carb or the whole bike (sorry mate).
Chicken knows alot about those 38 mm Mikuni carbies as he fitted one he bought one from Ballards, but doesnt know the internet enough, (he cant spell cow but can lift one), so I have no idea who you are, and am now just confusing myself

That should lean it a little which may help your cause, just one thing on that is that I used to struggle with blocking air filters and the jetting going fluffy during a ride, also I got some small amounts of dust in the intake. and blocking the air supply from under the seat (which is air from the back wheel area dusty as) and draw air from beside the bike my filters never ever get dirty. Louee for me was interesting as after a dusty days riding, Chris’s filter was so dirty and almost blocked yet mine didnt need cleaning, even after the whole 3 days.
