Hey Zippo,
Wont be there tuesday (tomorrow) as I am still getting over the arse end of the flu and want to make sure I am better for the weekends ride as Chicken and I are riding out there as well.
Please keep me in mind for future week day rides as work is pretty flex
Keep it safe take some pic’s, chat soonTB
Preparation, I am anal about my bike and it being ready for a ride and looking bling. Yeah I ride better when my bike is clean and looks as bling as it can! OK I have said it in public it’s in the open, now leave it. I fitted my medium size fuel tank 17 litres.
As the photos show I have my bike ready, I changed the gearing front and rear, I fitted a new 140/80-18 Michelin desert rear tyre as they wear really well and I would hope for at least 1000 to 1200kms from it, bloody want to though as they are $230.00
Ouch!!
I fitted the GPS mount to the handle bars, with that fitted and the CRF trip meter for back up navigation I sat and looked at how busy the cockpit looks.
I took it for a ride with the new cold air intake fitted and it was fluffy and all over the shop, I came home and fiddled, and ended up changing the main jet and its cracking now. I cleaned two air cleaners and made up two filter skins, as 650’s have flat air filters so I make them to cover the filter like a skin and use Chux from the kitchen.
I packed the trailer with what we will need on the weekend as Crash will bring it out for us. I packed my tool bag / bum bag, in it is new spark plugs, couple of joining links, spanners, reversible screw driver, pliers, wheel spanners, spare levers (clutch/ brake, gear) fuel hose, cable ties, tape, quick metal, salastic, lock wire, hose clamps, sockets (8, 10 and 12mm) short extension and a tee bar. There is rubber gloves, radiator hose repair tape, valve tools and a large assortment of nuts, bolts and washers.NO TYRE LEVERS this ride, no pump and no tube because I am running mousses both ends NO FLATS !!!!
Helmet cam fitted and tested
No way, adjusting screw and lock nuts champ for this boy ! Oil stone not requiredB)
Chicken has a 952 on the rear of his 600 and he swears by it and yet every Dunlop I ever tried I have sworn at. Tyres and the opinions created by them are the biggest can of worms I have every seen opened!
Couple of years ago I went on a ride down the high country with all the honda Guns, Glen Bell, Ben Grabham, to name a few, all of these guys had rooted tyres on there bikes half worn at best!! No shit !!! And these guys smoked the arse of everyone
I find something I like and use it !What the ? Hard way, smart way you see the longer your working in the shed the longer your sucking piss, and if you dont have an oil stone you dont have an oil stone, but you do have rum !!
Hey Husky 610, you asked on the other thread regarding the finishing spot of a 610 at Finke, cant be sure where it finished heres a list of the huskys that started, interesting that the factory supported TE510 ridden by Jehi Willis melted the wiring out of it and was the only DNF

Shims Shims? Sorry no mate, screw and lock nut here ! Hey I had a mate trading his bike with closed valves, so I got some fine wet and dry and mirror and rubbed and rubbed and got the shims to the thickness I needed. Now there is really nothing wrong with this, its still a shim, so dont give me the its all wrong thing ok!
What KTM rat said is so true, My oldest boy rides a XR70, he handles every aspect of the bike and bike riding. I take him out on the trails and he can do it all! If he rode a KTM or KX 65 he couldnt do that, I will let go to an XR 80 or 100 before we step up to a high performance bike at that age he will have alot of riding under his belt and know how to handle it. He rides very well, but when I let him ride a mates boys 65 he only did one lap of the track in the paddock and said he didnt like it, got back on his bike and rode till it ran out of fuel! One day he will get one! We trail ride and do mini bike club, no racing just family fun
Nice work mick, I have used a different tool that I had before I sold my trusty XR6 and it was a 2 piece gig and one piece was a hammer! You as always have done good work!
Need your arse kicked for that sprocket ! As chicken always says ” fail to prepare, preparing to fail !! “
Cheers TBYes I will be there friday nite drinking Bundys, hey if anyone else wants to drive out friday nite to save an early up, let us know.
