Leave the choke plate out champ, they crack and fall into the engine, my XR650 one was removed by the race team. I fitted the ballards one piece to it as they dont crack

Check for wear in the slide and carby body, also check the needle into the carb body. I reckon where the needle goes down into the carb body will be worn or the slide in the housing. Has it done much work Mick? Also check the intake boot for being cracked between the carb and head, or sucking air??
Chicken bought my old 600 of me and replaced the carby and said it the best thing ever

Am just checking radar images here now because of the rain am not sure if we can get the truck down to Finke, we travel south some 260 odd klms on tar and then 150kms on dirt to Finke. I figure iif we leave here early enough and get bogged we will be blocking the road and people will have to help ha ha

Yes your right Mick I have ridden the bike Chris is talking about and its a gr8 little thing and the fuel injection when cold its fantasic, I fitted bark busters and fat bars for him, Chris and I set his ride heights (sag) etc for him and as I said I have ridden it both tar and dirt, it has standard tyres which is limiting and I am a big boy but I think it willl be a good thing.
Funny you talk abour Boris and chasing him, I did a Honda High country ride with GHR and couldnt run dowm Ben Grabham on a stock XR250L for some 15mins, did but it was a straight

How do you find the 990, I ask because chicken and I recently went throught the whole look at buying 640 adventures thing. I loved the 990’s but they didnt have the fuel range where a 640 did, the 990 I rode was fat on a dirt road and great on the tar but I just felt it would be limited in the some of the riding you could do and then riding partners could be an problem
