Hey Al we have changed our plans on Monday already we may not actually stay for the sunset but pay our respects early and cover some other sites and locations on our way to the corner because there are some things I want to do while I am there and time maybe a problem.

Yeah we need a challenge on this trip :woohoo:

Well yesterday started at 5.25am with a text from a very stressed Pete, off his head because the last run to settle him and his bike ( a trip to work ) saw the clutch slipping anytime the throttle was applied in 2nd gear up A few quick calls and we had an action plan to get that fixed this morning

I ring Crash and get a sounding Crash who informs me at about 4am he tore his calf muscle (this was confirmed by a doctor yesterday arvo) now Crash is the toughest bastard I know so for him to say he is out was wrenching news (Mind you he is going to try and test it on the bike this afternoon before we put him down)

Today with the help of Nick at Tekniks get Pete’s clutch sorted and when returning from the test ride in my Chinese work boots (thongs) damage my already marginal Achilles tendon which now has me sitting here icing it so it will be back in the gumby boot until I put the bike boot on

Now I know it sounds like one of Mick’s stories for the paper but it is as it reads. From here well there are a few contingency plans being thrown around but Pete and I will continue to Birdsville and then back to the Corner to meet Struck and Ace

    Mission accomplished :D :D

You must confuse easy Jeffro  let me explain.

    The trip hasnt started yet

Then the challenge can start :P

I cannot believe the dramas around this ride that started at 5.30 this morning  it’s started a mission that is still going tonight. More later but we have one injured rider and one bike with a slipping clutch hours from the start time  Big day tomorrow but we will make it

Bike looks great Strucky, I have only left to clean my air filters, fit my bags and set my sag

I mount mine on top and have had no near death experiences in the past 18months or so. I know of a bloke who lost his on a ride hey scott due to a broken mount but after he sussed out the details we should replace those helmet mounts every 12months i think he said. Its still out there filming wauchope min min lights of a night time id say.

Yeah I have been using top mounts since I got my first GoPro in 08 I think it was  Helmet rear and helmet side never had a problem, I also mount it anywhere now as I have roll bar mounts, bar mounts, grab arms, chest mount and so many arms and bits and bobs  I use the tethers on ALL MY MOUNTS old or new. As far as the 12 month thing goes I still have and use some of my 08 mounts so I don’t know if maybe the one that failed on Scott may have had a knock and fractured or in fact they do go off

Looking to invest in a Montana 650T, but confused over the options regarding maps.

Ryda offer the 650T, with TOPO Maps and auto mount for $600.

    http://www.ryda.com.au/Garmin-Montana-650t-Handheld-GPS-p/montana650t.htm

My usual GPS supplier, Johnny Appleseed, has the same pack but for $695.

    http://www.ja-gps.com.au/Garmin/montana-650t-gps/

The only difference I can work out in the two offers is the JA bundle includes the TOPO map as a separate SD card. But Ryda has the TOPO maps pre-installed.

Confused since JA is normally pretty competitive. So is the Ryda deal so much better, or are there advantages in having the maps on an SD card?

I would go the SD card because that way I can transfer it to other GPSs if I didnt like the Montana or it failed or who knows what the future holds.

Personally JA isn’t the cheapest around ;)

James if you decide to update let me know I would buy your 62 :)
