oldgirl wrote::laugh:  changing it back is easy enough. I’m just glad I found out bf I tried taking it off road again. I wouldn’t have had the confidance to argue with the friend that changed the settings…but if I say ‘well TB said!’ he’ll shut up and listen bc he knows you….hmmm only problem with taking bike to someone else is THEY get to do it.
Tell you what if you have a tape measure I will get a Teknik setup up book and help/show you how to do you static and rider sag setup if you want one arvo this week. You are in credit anyway with the ciders

oldgirl wrote:Thank you for telling me that TB. I need to learn to trust my bumbecause riding it home this afternoon after it was changed the bike felt less ??sharp?? not sure if thats the right word. Love being able to touch the ground but the agility was there. Now I know why.
I didn’t lower the bike myself actually I did ask someone for advice though . But what the other guy did is EXACTLY what you said. The front forks lowered as far as possible through the tripple clamps and the rear spring was wound right down.
I mentioned that doesn’t fiddling with the forks and springs effect the feeling on different terrain. Isn’t that why some of the new bikes are fitted with those clicky things so you can change it for different conditions??
I was told that I wanted the bike to be soft  Maybe I wasnt explaining myself properly.
Oh well no harm done he was just trying to help. I was complaining at the time that I got ‘stuck’ trying to turn around on the track bc I couldn’t touch the ground to push it backwards…….he just told me that good riders don’t need to turn around like that
Thankfully I always stick my nose in when ever someone is working on any bike and ask tonnes of questions so I know how to put it back to the orginal setting quick smart
Yep think I need to go and talk to Nick. Does he do exhausts as well? Just want to shush it up a bit.
You are correct, you have softened the back its sags the rear end the geometry of the bike is altered and doesn’t steer factors like steering rake etc. change because of the sagging rear end (in very simple terms) Knowing you and the stuff I have witnessed from dropping around twice you will be all over it like white on rice  Cheers for the ciders as well

I loved your ride report had be laughing out loud. Very true it can get in your head like PTW says keep at it practice makes perfect (well thats what I tell myself  )

Thought I better update this thread sorry James. The engine went back together no problems, Nick put the cases back together and I reassembled the rest more or less.
Piston in
Nick cleaned the head up and did a real nice sweet job. He gave me a run down on the ins and outs of porting and polishing what should be what shouldn’t what to look for what to avoid.
Look at the rollers on the cam follower, 50k and 890hrs not a mark bloody good engine
Once it was started I checked the oil pressure and washed the bike and the engine area down. Road testing showed it had more mid range then before. When I got home I thought it had an oil leak but it was too much chain lube
Since then it hasn’t moved and with the new one coming well?TB
oldgirl wrote:you’re right rach. I had someone take the front forks and rear spring down a bit this afternoon. Makes me feel alot more comfortable in the saddle now that my feet are closer to the ground.Odd isn’t it that women like to be able to touch the ground? I know some guys that have to stop next to a tree bc their bike is so high.
Stuff that it freaks me out too much.
Only problem with lowering the forks and spring is it changes the ride of the bike. Where a lowering link allows you to still mess about with how soft or hard you like the ride to be…… well I think thats right from what I’ve read. I’m sure and OBT will correct me if I’m wrong
ok this next sentence will probably get me into trouble but…
Antonio was really hard on Sat and now he feels a bit squishy. I still have to figure out if I like it hard or soft.dear god there was no other way to say that with out it still coming out wrong….
How did you lower the bike O, was the rear spring just wound off? If it was it will upset the balance of the bike no end that’s the soft feel, it may now bottom out. If you slide the forks all the way through the triple clamps and fit a lowering link maybe better it would certainly help everything stay much more balanced. The best thing would be to have a chat with Nick (Ask him a question in the Tech forum) get it done correctly best and safest (that’s how you sell any cost to the mister for war and finance well I did  )
