About 500+ hrs and at least 35k between XR, KTM, WR and the Tenere
TB
What happens when you overshoot a corner on a Austrian bus

Chasing the XR was to much

Happened on the access rd to Dejays swamp of doom

Had to get it out with a truck

I have never ridden so fast for so long as today. We are at singleton and I am typing this as homer gets new tyres fitted
Today’s specs so far

Up against this 990 I feel like I have taken a butter knife to a gun fight

Bring your “A” game tomorrow Mick

Nickj wrote:Have a great ride mate , it’ll be a bit different than on the TenereNick
Yeah Nick, love the XR fast twin trail etc but it sux as an adv bike eh. Special thanks to Steve from adv moto for the loan of his XR I built last year
Will keep you in the loop

Well got to Oberon this evening, fixed the spot link in the first post if interested. Homer fronted on his own seems he broke his two off siders  so there will be just the two of us
Stopped in the forest and took a photo and did the sag actually ( yeah I packed a tape measure)

Booked into the pub and enjoyed a counter meal
More in the morning

Which mod am i better off doing first damper or suspension. :Also taking into account it may be awhile before i can afford the second one.Im hopeing that they dont go hand in hand and are pointless one without the other.
If its the damper could you please suggest make/model and where to buy.
cheers :cheer:
Hi James
Mate the suspension first as it actually reduces a bit the need for the damper
Speak with Nick or the staff at Tekniks. As for the damper I will make an enquiry as I knew where there was a few very cheap priced rally moto ones

I have the same on the Ten Eags, pretty well always run number knob on 5 and the front lever on D. Nick ran his the same most of the time, there was the rare short stint when it was adjusted up or down. Note, some times I flick it onto 1 or 2 when doing long rocky creek crossing to help faster response time. (learnt that after the snowy dips  ) Still ran 5 when doing big red etc.
The real gain from a damper comes late in the arvo day 3 when you are tired and clip a rock etc
TB
Biased yes Eags
Everyone has covered everything but;
My thoughts
Its all about what sort of rider you are, where you want to ride, how you ride and how many miles you will do before you replace said bike. With the riding I have done with my Tenere the 690 would have been better for me about 5% of the time.
As for cost of setup I just purchased what I wanted, could have done it cheaper like Eagle with second hand maybe but (no offence Eags
) I dont ride once a month and have done 50k in just over two years so I needed it and just got it. Not many around being used like mine when I got mine so setup wasnt as cheap as it could have been now.
It been covered here before but the 690 wont do what I want to do with carrying weight etc. BTW I reckon the 690 is a more modern version of the XR650R if you look at what they were built for and their stats, and I have a XR650R. The Tenere is cheap to look after, spares are cheap goes anywhere, doesnt wear you out, cruises well, stable at speed, can ride for 12hrs a day with out a sore arseTB
