busy223 wrote:Thanks fellas just read through Dejay’s build. Couple of questions if I can… I’m thinking of a 20 litre tank from MX1 (Acerbis) over a 30 litre, not sure I need that much fuel for what I want to do. Any idea on fuel range with the 30 litre tank?
Might sound a stupid question but why on earth would you want to lower the footpegs? I see Vince Strang sells a kit to do it but I’m wondering why you would???
Apparently the stock seat of the big girls are ordinary… any ideas on what blokes are doing to solve that one?
cheers for the help
BusyHey busy you lower the foot Pegz because the DR suffer from a cramped riding position. The 30 liter gives you more options, you don have to fill it every time do you? Fuel sloshing isn’t really an issue it’s and ADV bike not a motorcross weapon ridden by Bubba Stewart
As for the seat Adveture Moto do concept seats and gel seats. They have everything that Vince does (tanks, racks, backs, luggage, dampers, bars, tank bags, bark busters, blah, blah, blah everything) but you will get it cheaper the Vince and Steve at Adventute Moto is a site sponsor means you get looked after and he is passionate about people and ADV riding has had a long term DR himself. Fair dinkum they have everything there.Adventure Moto, Steve

PS. steve will do that tank cheaper than mx1 (tell heim TB said to  )
Go the CRF it will be a better bike for longer with gears and better suspension IMO

Hey busy
When we built Dejay’s we used Barrett pipe mention your an Old Bull and get looked after. Suspension by Tekniks
Dejays had done 10k off road and copped its share of abuse and hasn’t missed a bestWill find the build thread and post a link

So whats planned for the rear suspension with the extra weight of the tank, fuel and loaded loop? Be interested in how it handles change of direction etc the further the weight is back greater the pendulum effect.
I know how the 530 feels when the back tank is full and it would be half the weight of the tank and loop. It’s ok I guess because it’s an ADV setup after all. And the after a while you get used to it like when we did Hattah, I got the fuel out fast as I could always running of the back. When it missed I would turn the front tap of for a while half fill the back and switch it off again until the whole fuel load was low.You are welcome to check out how I set the taps etc up of the 530 works great and has been tested

mal5.1 wrote:Thanks for all the well wishes guys.Day 1 was ok. The local DSE wouldn’t let the organisers use very much single track, so we had a lot of narrow and rough fire trail and a bit too much open transport I thought. There was only one single down hill that I would consider hard. A few riders walked their bikes down. 180km for the day with 5 tests. Times were loose so I had about 10min at each control to check the bike and fuel myself (endura and bananas). Not much to do at the end of day 15min work period just an air filter and general check over.
Day 2 was long and had more transport sections it seems. we did an awesome grass track t about the halfway point but there was a lot of tar to get there and back. A nice loop out the back of Nooojee made it worth the effort. 230km today. I was getting tired and a bit loose on the bike towards the end with 50km to go and made a few bad line choices in the bog holes and then we have to do 2 really hard single track tests back to back. Anyway I stayed upright all day and on my minute and changed a rear tyre.
Had a visit from MickP and Daniel from Suttos on their way down to the moto GP.
Thanks Mal, go mate go

If it’s only a toy like you have said an if you’re not doing 1080 on your LCD massive tv I would but a HD hero the 1 they are dirt cheap. Home computer movies Youtube it will be more than impressive. Give it a rip from there and then if it’s your thing get a hero 3 when they are out and the price has settled next year.
The difference between it and the two itsnt huge glass lens , etc. All my stuff to date has been on a one and I like it so I have ordered a 3 when they hit our shore cause I want to take it to the next levelTB

EAGLE`02 wrote:I have a Liquid Containment 8ltr Bladder that I have not used yet, bought it a while back to do the 2 day type rides and haven`t had a chance yet,, till next weekend
Questions are aimed at those who have used them before,
1. How did you best retain the bladder when full ?? Ocky Straps or the like, on the end of my seat against my top bag when full. Rolled up and under my straps holding my top bag with my chair when empty
2. Did you need to vent it regularly during the day ?? No didnt touch it, was from Bridsville to the Cordillo downs so it was plenty hot and shaken, no problems
3. How strong and did you have any problems with the retaining loops ?? Well thats how I held it on and didnt move. They seem plenty strong. I guess it comes down to common sense and emptying it as soon as you can dont have to have it so tight has to use as a banjo string :laugh:I have setup a couple of webbing straps wrapped around my pannier frames front & back, draped the bladder over the top of my tent gear bag on the rear top plate.
Retained bladder loops on each corner to web straps with Carabiners (good quality for up to 650kg) not cheapos,,,Thanx in advance
You are very welcome
