I agree with the above regarding two strokes on road use. But if I had my heart set on a Husky I would get a 449 seen a few of them now getting ridden hard and doing the miles no fuss no problems at all. The bikes seem ok it’s the whole warranty and the price of parts I think that is giving the product a bad name.
Get rid of the importer and it would be good bike to own maybeTB

That’s a good post Moto that makes sense (who wrote it for you :laugh: )
I wasn’t demanding proof Moto (see smilies etc like at the pub when you yell out come on where did you hear that and have a laugh) that’s been hyped up out of context.
That old chesnut about Honda gets rolled out every time and it does interest me as to what went on at that time because its one of the biggest changes in our sport in my time how did it start I wonder? And just because you say it isn’t important doesn’t mean some of us aren’t interested and where better to learn then the web because its all true on the net :laugh: :laugh: I would seriously like to know or learn what really happened in that period. Truth be known Ollie’s probably right that argument get rolled enough but there has to be some substance to it
Sure we have opinions but I don’t know what happened I guess I hate to think that the rules could be changed like it suggested just because one kid threatened to take his bat and ball :laugh:
Yes rules were changed and they were for a season or two probably close to fair ( results show two strokes still winning for a season) but four strokes development saw it become one sided and the rules should be changed its a joke now and had been for 10 years
I would also like to learn what really happened around the rule changes in Dakar did they really do it for the sport and the governing body made the decision themselves or were they pressured?
It’s hard when having a debate about something and a laugh via the written word things as we know get taken the wrong way especially when someone maybe misses what others are on about exactly because you they are on a keyboard can’t see or read that person
As I am home with man flu and its raining I may see what I can learn about the above :huh:
Back to the Betas then :huh:

Ollie wrote:No arguments from me, Gasgas is probably the closest Euro to manufacture a bike similar to a rice burner as you could get.
Perimeter Frame = 94 KX 125
Engine = loosely based on a YZ
brakes = Nissan
wheels = DID dirtstars
ignition electrics = Kokusaneven the front suspension (marzocchi 45 shivers) are identical to 92 model Showa’s which were standard on my 92 Husky 360
ollie
Did not know that about the Gasser engine or the forks

Interesting debate

Says who :laugh: :laugh: were you there :laugh: Where is this written, who was there how do we know that :laugh: what four stroke did Honda have in AMA at the time? Honda wasn’t the first to push four strokes in the AMA that was Yamaha. Do you know who was the first to go four stroke in the AMA?
I would be interested in reading the articles or any thing where is states “Honda are the ones that went bleating to the AMA and threatened to pull the pin if they didnt get their way
“Great bed time story eh :laugh:

Scotty wrote:Unfortunately it appears for the Japs its all about the bottoms line. They only spend to develop a small model range to maximise profits for those models. If they were to produce 2T off road models no doubt they would just be pulling market share from their 4T range.Mate if they did two strokes they would still keep them in the brand rather than lose them to the euro’s so their market share would increase so the above isn’t right
Have a look at the Jap range of off roaders compared to the Euros. No contest the Euros make everything from 125cc 2T up to 500+cc 4T whilst the Japs hang their hat on 450cc 4T and a couple 250’s. Yes it may corporate sense and be more profitable but f#*k they have become boring.
Again read the above
Love or hate the Euros and 2T at least they show passion and excitement.
What a 450, 530 etc when ridden doesn’t generate passion, that’s a real closed mind statement. What was the last performance 450 etc four stroke did you really screwed on and hung on? And the your ADV husky doesn’t count as a performance four stroke sorry

I dont care two stroke, four stroke, dirt, motard, single, twin, beach, road, as long as you are riding
TB
Yeah the 250 music was only for the sub 100 kg riders here
not my choice just thought it suits a 250 :laugh:
That 750 pulled a hundred mile an hour on the GPS along there the next day :ohmy:Got a 1200 Tenere in the carport ATM but I am sick as a dog got the roof guy coming tomorrow and need to pack to go the Hattah sunda night :pinch:

Scotty wrote:If you were into trials bikes you would have heard of Beta PTW. The more 2 banger the better now if only the Japs would pull their heads out of the sand.Maybe it isn’t the japs with their head in sand :dry: Just saying :whistle: I believe that if there was a big enough demand or enough of a market the japs would hump a camel for a quid or market share. Think about it they need only dust of the blue prints to a 85 model YZ or RM etc technology hasn’t changed and bang your in the game. Market share extra easy.
Oh yeah don’t forget the conspiracy theory
by the way if Yamaha marketed the YZ 400 which changed the landscape why does Honda get the blame :dry:Oh the debate :laugh:

Smick looking gadgets eh, no EFI again
