Been on the phone today, Yamaha are bring up 4 yes 4 new WRs for you blokes to test ride around the test loop!

I will be announcing a major prize at the auction watch this space next week. Sponsor gear is rolling in steadly and I will pu a list up with a week or so to go. Save your money there will be prizes and gear for auction a plenty.
To everyone arriving on Friday after talking with some of the guys we are worried about groups going riding Friday given how people could end up going different directions etc head-ons could be a drama. There are people coming to help setup, cut firewood, run the lights, set the generators up so maybe it would be best if no one rode. I mean you are all big boys and can make your own minds up but if we all get in and get it done it’s shared and we can have a drink sooner

Shoei or nothing for me. An Arai would be my second choice although they don’t seem as have much room between your nose, mouth, chin to the front of the helmet as a and I like that extra space if there is an impact
All the benefits that Shelby mentioned alone make it worth purchasing IMOAvoid Zeus, RJays etc if your wearing them all day you want quality

Swingarm and linkage bearings replaced (thanks for the forum feedback on the swingarm binding!)
Moving to the front end shortly.

Looking good mate, do the side cover mod and block the intake from the guard off, stops them getting dusted.
Keep us posted

Flying Fish wrote:Hi TB,Yep thats me.I was hoping to call in last Tuesday, but he got held up in Canberra, and unfortunatly I couldn’t really wait. I also havent had a chance to reorganise, dam work seems to get in the way  Not to mention knowing how busy Steve is.
I need to get down there soon to look at the gear and parts I need, not to mention just picking Steve brain. Thanks for the offer on the help/advice. Perhaps when I manage to find time to get to Sydney I might give you a call and you can run your eye over my WRR.
I’m hooking up with Kat and Alyssa tomorrow for a ride. Can’t wait to meet her and talk APC.
Thanks for the info on the brake lines. Definitely worth considering.
Cheers,
Flying FishIf Steve can’t organise a time I will meet you over there. I am Steve’s spanner man  etc
Happy to help with the bike if you need it. I am doing Steve’s XR and helping with the WR he will be riding

medogrocket wrote:OK for all those wondering what my ride will be like, buggered if I know!!! I am going to wing it on the day, i will try to avoid the other rides and for those that know me I am always up for a challenge and don’t like to stop, so I will grade it at 3-4 depending on how my dodgy elbow goes, there will be rocks, singles, open trails, rocks, hills, mud, water, rocks, pines, natural timber, rocks, slippery stuff and a few rocksThanks Tim, BTW would you be interested in a 10 min stint on the well setup KTM 530 I will be on as a direct comparison against your 570? I know I would like to try the 570 against the 530 hint hint

Flying Fish wrote:Hi TB,It awesome the information that you (and others) are providing regarding APC builds and preparations.
I have actually signed up for the APC myself. I’m doing it my trust little WR250R (affectingly starting too be referred to as the “little Jigger”). Thankfully I have very good mate helping me and a local bike shop in Aberdeen is doing the work we can’t do.
My list of works is almost as long as yours for the XR. I have a few questions regarding braided brake lines. I am replacing the current brake lines, however I wasn’t really sure on needing to use braided lines or even what options would be best on small bike like a WRR. What lines are you putting on the XR and why? What’s the advantage of having braided lines over others? I know not all types and brands are equal, but are there advantages of some sorts over others, particularly considering the usage they will be under i.e. long term trail use rather than needing race high performance standards.Cheers,
Flying FishHi FF are you the young lady that was to visit Steve at Advanture Moto this week to check out his mighty WR 250R?
Braided lines biggest advantage over conventional rubber hoses is reduced bulging when heavy brake force is applied. This results in improved brake response and lever feel and can reduce stopping distances.
They are stronger and reduce the change of being damaged on the trailI am in Brisbane this week and have been and checked out this local supplier
Run good fluid as well, will post up one Lefty put me on too when I get home
If you need any help getting your bike ready etc please don’t hesitate getting in touch. I will be home in Sydney next week

Doesn’t it have a battery  Really didn’t known that

Two options Ollie sadly for you both involve spending money and Aldi stock neither
Upgrade your stator yes, best I know of is here you may find cheaper but make sure it’s a Ricky. There is also a guy in SA that rewinds yours name fails me at the minute I will post it later when I think of it.
Second- upgrade your lights as mentioned before to a HID setup, benefit here is you will have better lights and can still run your heated grips

There is a third and that’s get warmer gloves
Hope that helps
BTW the heated grip option has been removed from this built because they are not worth the drama on a bike like an XR in my experience
