Welcome Matt a mate of Ollie’s has to be a good bloke. Enjoy your move and hope to see you soon enough. How does the RMZ go mate, injected aren’t they? Is it registered? Have the makings of a good trail bike coming from the same stable as the DRs

And putting it on isnt a 5min job. Having a break, Bulls ride may fill the gap? Others may step up and offer a ride in their area. Finally Mick and I are working on another ride as well ;)

Is there a thread associated with this new ride ??? or is it an ADV bike( if so don’t go to too much trouble 👿 )

No, no thread not ADV no more said. I will have to bring forward the pick up date to make this ride because I was going to have it for Dungog.

Back to Mal’s ride eh ;)

I started  but had a major shed clean up and have just got both the XR and the Gasser going again  (been getting over injuries myself)

I would love to take it out for a blat around Maria SF.

The XR still puts a smile on my dial, but it is not the pure adrenalin rush that your bikes do. (not really what I had intended for it either,ie commuter adventure Hack) with 15/45 gearing flat out was only good for 149km/h I thought I would get the ton easy,my old DRZ400 did over in NZ 👿

    Ollie

It’s over geared Ollie ;) They will go faster with 14/48 or 15/48 specially a standard engine it won’t have the power to pull a 45. Hell they ran 14/48 on the Baja from memory and they did 115MPH

Oh and a DRZ that does over a ton    I have to agree with Rat :(

I know a bloke with a DRZ 440 it has every mod done spend zillions and on the flat won’t do over 150 (GPS)

Should say welcome back Rat and Bull but I won’t :P , oh actually welcome back Bull :)

    Hi Mick
I pushed that story to the newsroom after speaking to Corey8. As it is the cops job to catch the low life or recover bikes the story warned locals and gave tips on bike security courtesy of Coffs KTM. They showed locking options and gave the reminder that if you garage your bike with the front wheel removed and left in the house is the biggest deterent to thieves. They may be equipped to cut locks but are screwed if they can’t roll it away.

    STM

Top idea, take the front wheel off :) easy and affective, that along with the locks can save some heart ache.
    I like good ideas :cheer:

    PTW

Do that with your postie Pete your orange shitbox will be right they wont touch that

Seriously I had a XR600 stolen when I lived at Wyee years ago. It was chained to a pole and had two discs brake locks fitted. You could see where they wheeled it out on skate boards
It’s a good idea but if they want it a wheel missing won’t stop them it’s seems they are organised

Great ride report guys, please keep it coming. Its been great reading and has the 5 of us heading down there in 6 weeks keen as for our ride.

Couple of questions, TB I notice both you and Nick have gone back to the Std Low Front Guards, any particular reason?
The radiators fill with mud and block the centre strip of the core. If you get muddy conditions well you take the guard off for that section, the radiator would have filled with the high guard anyway. Also you dont get as much mud throw over onto the screen and the radiator is better protected from rocks and stones

And what tyres are you currently recommending?
Dunlop 952 fronts awesome wear and grip tall profile helps protect your rim as well (not road legal if that worries you)
Rears either a 606 great grip short life or a Mitas E09, good grip, good life. I have at home a Karoo to try and will do a write up.

I should have an update on my Tenere early next week – I am told the motor is being reassmebled today – the saga is now at 15 weeks. Thats no good mate will be interested to hear

So there we are at the Wombeyan caves turn off its maybe two hrs before dark, the BMW will probably need fuel soon, the Roos will be hopping, it will be well dark before we get to Oberon or Hampton, Kowmung will be up oh and we will be riding into the setting sun on the other side of river. I pulled up and asked the boys the question, I explained the above and the answer was “why are we sitting here listening to you” ok of we went. First of the Roos fronted only a couple of kms down the road before the dirt!! Down across the river, Nick hates heights so I was surprised when I said before the river see the campers down there and he answered “yeah with the blue tarps” I said I didn’t think you would have looked being you are scared of heights well done. Nick laughed and admitted maybe he didn’t looked and was betting they had some blue tarps like all camp sites.. We stopped on the causeway for a quick regroup engine running. We had a great run up using the bluetoothes helps. Once we turned onto Langs Rd it was obvious there had been a fair amount of rain recently. The tracks were slippery but manageable we had a few laughs and everyone had a moment before we reached the turnoff for the TTT rally. We continued on past Limeburners turnoff I noted the gate is still there and locked (a great ride ruined by f€#king wheel drivers)
Anyways we continued the sun was setting as we rode through Mt Werong and the wildlife was out, the fog was coming in and in my ears were my words “I want to finish a ride in the dark”  be careful what you wish for peeps
Next thing Nick says the BMW only has 12 kms fuel range left so we decieded to stop and get 1.2 litres out of each of the DRs. The fuel light had been flashing on my Tenere for the last 30 kms but I still had another 120kms from experience. We got the fuel out of the DRs as quickly as we could, Dejay cleaned everyone’s head light covers and a few of us cleaned our glasses and visors.the weather was closing in and we were loving it. We soon turned off the dirt onto Edith rd and headed for Jonolan caves and the rain started, it looked like a Baturst pitstop everyone scrambling for their wet weather gear, gear at had seen light of day all trip.

Here comes the fog again

We rode down through the caves I videoed it and will find it and post it later
The ride down and back out of the caves was wet slippery bitumen and when at the top the white lines disappeared I was back to first gear in the fog twice. But no one chucked a Eagle and ran straight ahead into the chain mesh fence

It was well dark when we got to Hampton pub after 9pm, good news the kitchen was still open and they had beer, rums and rooms.

    As we pulled up

    P1280340640x480.jpg

We all stayed in our riding gear smashing the beers etc until we ate. After dinners the bikes were moved around the back and we returned to the bar still in our ride gear until stumps

    Last day later
