.I said that to Nick the other night as Spud’s is a steel frame and I have seen my brother in-law go from steel to alloy and struggled with the setup

I reckon it’s hard there are so many good bikes around. Things I have taken out of this thread and talking with you are
1/ You being so wrapped with Aaron’s bike with besides a pipe is out of the box.
2/ SBs great post about two same model (year and all) bikes being so different.
3/ the talk about pipe on Aaron’s bike, really how much power do you reckon that adds in the real world honestly. If it gained 4 horsepower I will give it up, and I don’t mean the pipe makers claims real world figures for me please
4/ power loss with the Kings, it’s fairly new really. It must be ok inside because it was only 18months or so ago he had the cases split to repair it jumping out of gear. That means barrel, rings, piston etc looked at even if they didn’t throw a set of rings in so it must still be fairly fresh eh. Like he says it has the wire mod, muffler and must be jetted ok so it’s the same as Aaron’s

Good luck mate will watch with interest
Oh my opinion for what is worth you like the idea of a 250, the CRF floated your boat straight up imagine how good it could be with some tweaking in your own singles. Another thought I have given that I know some of the other things you want to do year after next and you liked the CRF I would look at a CRF450 with a flywheel weight kit and it’s injected so have it tuned to suit. Like SB there is no difference between them and he has ridden a few on rented CRFs. Good deals on them at the moment same suspension quality brakes etc
Just my thoughts, like I always say opinions are like arseholes everyone has one, none right or wrong because it only and opinion after all

TB
Check for a tight link in you chain Aaron, could have got a rock jammed in it and damaged it, I have seen it a few times will cause the chain to whip. The CRF runs a smaller chain size (narrower) it reduces the drag on the smaller engine.
