So Saturday afternoon is free, Sal is off doing things so I said I will duck down and have a look at the ADV TTT Rally. Will be home on dark and we will go to the pictures ;) bike was basically still packed from my last ride and one should never go unprepared when ADV riding cause one never knows what will happen.

First things first, I had built a set of wheels for Krusty and needed his originals to measure the hub off sets (I didn’t pull them apart) so he was calling around so I could measure the originals.

    e9079170.jpg

While Krusty was here I mentioned I was going and he said was in, he left in a hurry to go home and get ready. Dee Jay hardcore bought his rear wheel up so I could teach him how to change a tyre. We ended up with a pinched tube, user the rim lock  from the rim lock because it had creased and we hadn’t had a lever under the rim lock. Anyway once a new ultra heavy duty was installed replacing the heavy duty I mentioned ro Dee Jay and he was in like Flynn  We decided Krusty’s super tanker would cover Dee Jays rule range issues and I suggested he throw some camping gear if he could just in case something happens.

So I meet Krusty and we rode to The Oaks and meet Dee Jay. From there to Mittagong for fuel and a pie :P It was getting late and looked it could actually rain :( I thought I best check over the ADV setups we had on this ride

    Mine trusted and tested setup

    Krusty’s Andy setup

    0f815cb2.jpg

And Dee Jay’s setup which is just a sleeping bag :P and it’s not in a bag itself

    670d537c.jpg

Off we went down through the hole in the wall

We rode some of the tracks used on the Caves to Caves ride a few years ago. Once we took the turn off to the rally it was onto a sweet fire trail that went up hill and down dale, shit hot riding actually. And then we arrived at the Rally, first of the days problems. A) we couldn’t just look around and leave without paying  B) we couldn’t just leave because of the incoming bikes and the fear of a head-on  the track wasnt that bad but we were stuck. We paid our twenty bucks and were told of a site on the hill side if we could get up there  So I fired up the Tenere and took off up this grassy hill, littered with stumps and logs and holes, a little damp and 100 plus people watching  Shit it in!! ;)

A guy was looking over my bike and complementing on how it was setup which was nice, but nicer when I found out it was Steve Crombie !! Steve’s write up on the Tenere and his adventure on one to Mendeniee was one of the reasons I bought one.

So we setup our hillside OBT came site, view from our camp

I thought I had better prepare a fire

Funny thing about the above picture is the KTM owner said that it wouldnt work, because as he said ” shit doesn’t burn it just smolders” like a true KTM owner :cheer:

Again the gun Kato riders setup

So with my ground sheet and Krusty’s trap and a few pegs we built him a swag as such :cheer: he was happy

We went for a wander bikes bikes bikes

Dee Jay having his first ADV dinner reckoned it was nice, it was the beef curry Nick

Krusty’s fire, should have seen the yelling you got if you touched it

    42bdf775.jpg

They let off a bomb shortly after that helped loosen the bowels somewhat, actually I shit myself  well almost :P

We woke early and packed up in the dark, I had been worried that the battery in the Tenere was rooted as it had been needing charging and jump starting and this morning it wouldn start. Worse still my recently purchased jumper leads wouldn’t carry enough current to power a digital watch  :( :pinch:

We pushed it along the hill and it rolled started easy :) we sooted out of the valley which left me wondering about the hard scary entry and exit out of the rally  we flew out

Couple of pictures of the valley

I left the picture taking site, came around the corner and found the mighty DR laying down and a despondent looking Sepo looking at it

    be1bd25f.jpg

He wanted a hand to pick it up, ha your kidding picture first  then I conducted a long draw out accident investigation

    ff43923f.jpg

Conclusion he just farmed up

Further up the road we find Dee Jay out of fuel and with Krusty quoting $50/L Dee Jay used

    a0715db2.jpg

Well maybe they drained a little out of Krusty’s

    9fef3776.jpg

    We took off,

I figured 1.6litres would get him to Mittagong easy ;) No it went about 16 klms and stopped, the is time he used

    7640b126.jpg

    de847f05.jpg

We fueled in Mittagong and had a pie, you get them at pie shops Krusty   eh Dee Jay p

Hey Nick I asked Steve Crombie who’s Tenere was better and he got down on his knee when he said mine ;) which is behind the WR he borrowed of Steve from Adventure Moto

    5d5e4e43.jpg

King Dee Jay is now the Fully Loaded Man, he didn’t bring a mat to sleep on like soft you, no he bought a sleeping back and a can of fully loaded  His sleeping bag was covered in mud because it wasn’t in a bag and held on my just one ocky strap

    Funny 405kms guys cheers

TB just rang and they are on their way back now.

Deejay has now taken the Kings Fully loaded crown for going on an adventure ride with only a sleeping bag and a can of soup!!

Neither TB nor Krusty invited him into their tents and just rolled him up in a small tarp for the night :D

Krusty has spent a bit of time on the ground , TB has had problems starting the Tenere this morning and Deejay ran out of fuel but I’ll let them tell those stories !!!

Sorry Eags  but they must like dudes sleeping with dudes  :P

Note :the last vid of Mal5.1 and the pro rider , Mal5.1 was sitting a fair bit from an injury so it may not give the most accurate reflection on its mounting position.

I just watch the awesome pro rider up front disappear into the distance. ;)

    Great thread King STM B)

He told me he was sitting back because the slow rider in front was holding him up and he needed to give it small bursts as he was afraid it would foul a plug at the low speed he was forced to ride at

Its chest or helmet top for me King. The helmet is a little better in my opinion cause it goes where you look which is handy especially when stopped and something happens and you look, your head moves as does the camera.

That smoker of Mal’s sounds sweet on the Victorian single trails he is riding

The trillion goggles shoot to low

I think Galey was refering to old mate that took a bullet while riding out there 12 months ago.

Did you get an invite to the sponsors ride Chris72a? ;) Are you having a trade tent on the day or just fanging around?

Mal5.1 I could never be as good as 4 of you.

Yeah Galey I’ll do the sponsors ride next sat, no tent I’d prefer to ride and have a tendency to consume too much alcohol at sunny corner, must be somethin in the soil, just got the logo on the shirts and in the showbags.

    Cheers
    Chris.

Nice. I will be at that ride as well. 👿

As will I thanks to Chris for the invite ;)

Sorry my report has taken so long but I have been very very busy :(

Ok so I left the Kings with Moose, we stopped and got essential ADV ride supplies, yup piss and a pie. Fueled the bikes and rolled into Nicks, we sat around waited for the others and talked shit and checked and rechecked our loads etc. Oh Moose didn’t, nothing stresses Moose check his rear tyre pre ride
    P8170285640x480.jpg
Soon Lotsa and Mickp fronted, Lotsa is a nutter in his car, we watched him drive up Nicks rough arse driveway faster then we ride our bikes we just stood and watched the bikes in the trailer jump higher than when they ride them
Beers, and then a curry cooked by Nick was awesome, back down the shed we finished up and Mr Magoo below and Lotsa stayed to sleep we went up and spent way too much time trying to fix Nicks route and get it loaded on the GPSs which sort of didn’t work but did if that makes sense
    P8170279640x480.jpg
We had bacon and egg rolls early and left, we rode some sweet forest tracks and trails, a quick break nearly 100kms
    P8170280640x480.jpg
Walking around I noticed a helipad site
    P8170281640x480.jpg
Still talking shit, waiting waiting lets go
    P8170283640x480.jpg
Still waiting I am bored lets go
    P8170282640x480.jpg
We fueled at the worlds slowest servo and left for Drake. Rocky River road is one of my top 5 rides and I jumped back into the lead and was having a ball, the road was damp and was offering a tone of traction.
We stopped and checked out an old hut
    P8170286640x480.jpg
From there we ventured off onto upper Rocky River road and started going through gates and gates and heaps of gates. At this stage both my GPSs were on track and all was looking mighty fine. Great riding but it was getting harder to follow the track, oh the GPSs were still going strong but the grass was getting longer and the track fading faster than standard Tenere suspension. Then we came to a uncross able river, we looked at all our options, and checked a few places but no joy. We stopped for a break in ol mates paddock for a think
    Moose made friends quickly
    P8170287640x480.jpg
    P8170288640x480.jpg
We decided we would have to head back and no sooner had we turned around we a land cruiser ute followed by a heap of dogs came over the hill.
This situation can go either way when a farmer finds about 6 bikers in his paddock.
As it turned out he was a top bloke and couldn’t help enough, he told us that the last flood had taken all the river crossings with it but he knew of a set of rapids that may be passable.
We followed him down to the river and I bought forth the Tenere, Moose on one side me on the other and Nick at the back we ventured into the water. The river bottom here was just one huge rock slab covered in green algae. There was no chance, we were only ankle deep and everyone was starting to slide. The middle of the river was knee deep so we would have drowned a bike for sure, and even if we had made it their was 50meters of boulders to navigate the other side. With the weather starting to close in we decided to head back the way we came and find another road to Glen Innes.
Some pimped cribs in the bush
    P8170290640x480.jpg
    P8170291640x480.jpg
From there we went back out to Rocky River road, onto Scrub rd and a wrong turn untold farmers paddocks, creek crossings and two locked gates we made it into Deep Water for fuel in the rain.
We thought we may venture west of Deep Water but the lady at the servo mentioned that snow was predicted that evening
We thought bugger camping and slabbed it straight into Glen Innes found a cheap but nice motel showered and went next door to the pub for a few beers and a great feed.

    Day 2 later
