This worth a look, little long maybe but a good story and the speed in the desert, over the whoops and sand is unbelievable to say the least :homy:

Good luck Gowy, like you said hard to get people on a Monday but don’t give up. Build it and they will come I say. Maybe do an intro say hi and then they will know they aren’t meeting Jack the Ripper at a carpark in the scrub

It’s a gathering thread see up the top  not ride report thread we will do that after the ride. We do this to give people that are coming on the ride an idea of what’s going on. That’s not you, you aren’t coming are you?

As we were then eh :P

So who are these blokes you take on pre runs that don’t have camera’s? Or if they do don’t know how to use them? :pinch:
    what?

You’ve described the ascent from and into the valley of death… yet I see no pictoral evidence of anything but your bike on a hill, somewhere near a trig station and the prince of death himself, Lord Vader!

Can’t take pictures if you are riding

You are going to have to make a better effort than this Chuck… saying that Shane WATTS or Stefan MERRIMAN wouldn’t have been able to ride it but you did with three broken legs just scares people away ;)

    What does that say?

Let me say this is the 4th time I have been up and down Mt Pinnibar on this side and it’s really changed

So Pete and I pre-ran the day 1 special today. Today was an adventure, a true adventure ride. The run up Mt Pinnibar was the toughest 30 mins I have ever done. I havent been so scared and excited at the same time for ages. At times I couldnt believe I was still going up and on the bike. It makes Jacobs ladder look and feel like the Sydney / Newcastle F3 freeway. The rocks were relentless, the water has washed every bit of fill out between them making sunny corner seem like a sandy beach!!
It rained towards the top and made it even worse with fogging goggles and visors. Once the photos were completed we headed down a dfiierent way towards Omeo. We came across a rocky downhill, and looking back I should have followed my gut and got off. A 200 kilo bike down a hill most couldnt ride an enduro bike up wasnt going to end well. Still full of stupidity I headed down. I came to grief as I was almost stopped, in the process of dropping the bike I dislocated my left thumb!! Pete helped me pick the bike up as I wondered what to do now, reality was there was no going back. The thumb to wrist joint was all out of wack but after some painful rooting around it went back in and while sore worked. We bulldogged the bikes down the ledge and headed on. It rained and then pissed down, I am not complaining because when I got a rear flat an hour later it stopped raining! Pete helped me change the tube and we had a can of tuna each. It was half past 1 and it was all we had eaten all day!! Onwards we headed to Omeo. Once here we checked in and crawled into a rum.

If you are going, remember there are two routes, standard and special. Special will take us through some of that country without giving too much away. The standard will be an adventure for all rider levels.
Traveling down now to pre run with Pete the Wulf,
We will keep you updated from the high country over the next week.

Damn!! I will be home for this ride but I fly out on the morning of the 5th which doesn’t leave enough time to get home and organised to leave again.

    One day.

You could do it with planning Jeffro. Or get a later flight maybe. High country is worth the effort
