are we correct in thinking that a bike with less rake would handle better than a bike with a longer rake?

    .

    LC is right B)

Less rake steeper angle steer better but more likely to be more nervous at speed longer rake more stable at speed won’t turn in as well is the general rule.

Have heard blokes like Ballard and Grabham say how well XR 250’s steered and yet were still stable. The XL will have a longer rake as such as it was more road oriented.

Years ago I rode a CR 250 (actually a WMW 250) and it was a late 80’s 89 I think, it was the time that super cross was hitting it straps thus everything was super cross orientated including the CR. It had a wicked steep rake setup to turn a 2nd gear berm on a indoor track. It would turn on greased limo with a slick tyre incredible steering but as soon as you got into 4th gear the thing would shake it’s head something shocking! Used to joke that it suffered head shake whilst tied the trailer   There was no such things as steering dampers then.

Things have changed now days we have better suspension, dampers etc I know run my forks thru the clamps of my XR around 15mm, it steers real sharp but if I back the damper off I get arm pump and it shakes it’s head

You want 3rd spot tracker for this ride ? Let me know and I will post the link to it. Maybe an option for the rear pair to carry it.

    Cheers 02

Take the top ferry near settlement city and turn right off the ferry and happy days. Jeffro I would ride out from Cresent to Kempsey and then west to Willawarren, just past there turn right and go across the dirt and mountains to Taylors Arms and a pub with no beer and back for a run mate, it’s not that far and will fill a while in.

The right turn after Willawarren is Hickeys creek road from memory but there are signs there to Taylors arms

You have to change the triple clamps mate. You will need to run the XR front wheel and if you do tha and use the XR speedo cable you should be fine.

I can’t remember if the triple clamps went straight in the one I did years ago I am sure they did I changed the bearings but I think cause the others were rooted. Maybe I fitted a spacer ?? I will try and get hold of old mate but it can be done

Hope you wash your stinkin’ armour before I have to camp within 20 yards of you on the LR ride :pinch:

Word to the wise – anyone who does go on the LR ride pack industrial strength ear plugs for BOL’s snoring!

Oh yeah he can snore we learnt that on the Canerons ride last year. You know the funniest thing is though when his C pack machine stops cause the genrator runs out off fuel and he starts choking because therenis no air coming thru his mask that’s funny

Sorry Bolls but it sounded funny the first time I heard it :P

Kram is the king of snoring, my youngest son came and woke me up one night because he said there was a animal making a noise that he didn’t know in the house. Mind you Kram was on the floor level and the Kieran was on the third floor  that’s snoring

    Maybe i should put Snowy in there aswell…another G up !!!! :P

Scary thing is…the both might come?

I cant vouch for Snow but Boony’s never done and adventure ride. Closest he has was the Jurds ride where ya get on the cans then ride all day then get on the cans. But he was crashed out on the table at the halfway point on that one and then cut the last quarter of the ride and went home and missed getting on it

Nah leave it we will go without them

Funny thing Bollocks is there is a thread here somewhere Boony talking about buying a LC4 for adventure style riding :P

Good fishing out there Bollocks ?? :silly:
