It was in 98 when Ben Grabham won the 4 stroke 250cc class in the ISDE held at Traralgon, he was only 16.

Shane Watts won it outright on a KTM 125

    Good year for Aussie enduro!

Yeah that was the ISDE I was talking about the A4DE. That ISDE performance was against the worlds best on the worlds best bikes they have, some factory bike on a XR

Thanks LC I forgot about that tops mate ;)

I had a 86, 88 and a 90 or 91 either as a 250 or a 280cc the 86 was a twin carb setup. They are / were legend bikes in their day I remember watching Ballard race them they kicked arse and beat everything around. I read only a few years ago that Grabbo still has the one he won the A4DE outright on in 92 ( don’t quote me I think it was 92 ) yes an XR250 anyway in an article a few years ago he said he can lap his practice loop almost as fast on it as his race bike at the time !!!!!!! As for what one is worth now, well it’s only worth what someone will pay I reckon

Will watch with interest Mick cause I am thinking of getting one in a few years to restore (maybe dreaming but dreams come true)

Thought they made them for KTMs as well Ian  I think he wants it for the gasser.

The Whipps looking thing for mind Mal I know it’s as ugly as a 12 rum girl in the morning but protection wise it seems the goods and like Ian said impact damage protection. Ollie made a carbon fibre one a few years back ( I am not hanging shit on it Ollie ) I for the life of me couldn’t see it handling impact damage being mounted as a skin to the pipe. I offered to hit it with a baseball bat but he wouldn’t let me
The shell back looking thing is more a motocross roost thing from back in the day isn’t it??? I reckon it could move as well when impacted
I know the Hyde smolders and steams the leaves etc when damp but it offers good protection. There wouldn’t be enough heat in a pipe to start a fire would there?

    Sorry Guys I’m out :(

My bike was surging a lot on the nabiac ride and when I pulled the carby out to check it, it has a slight tear in the diaphram. I’ve ordered the part but it won’t be here for two weeks.

It was lucky I checked it because the trottle cable was only hanging together by one strand of wire.

I’m now getting Big Birta ready for the High Country Ride. :)

Have a great ride and I’ll look forward to hearing about all about the fun I’m missing out on.
