Quote:for what purpose is packing the grease in the hub?? I personally dont see any benefit really.it just sits in there and goes round and round, not even likely to touch the bearings.Yeah thats what I have been saying when using quality grease you don’t really need to. Multi purpose grease which isnt designed for wheel bearings would benefit from having the hubs packed because it will melt and then run through the bearings and hub.
I just put grease in the hub more out of habit and because if a bearing started running hot it would eventually melt and help get to the closed Pub before the wheel falls off  :laugh:TB

Quote:Wondering if you put grease in the dust cap ?No Jak not really I don’t think its needed its like the grease in the hub between the bearings. You will find if you run quality high temperature bearing grease like you should the grease between the bearing cups in the hub

I read in the link Mick put about a state forest ride area for kids. Mick and I have had this discussion and the question I have is who is going to pay (its needs supervision, track maintance, arrowing for direction, there would be limits to the numbers etc etc etc) who wants that next door to them? The extra traffic, the rubbish, the noise etc etc. So it needs to be further out from town, then people cant be arsed driving their kids that far so the vacant land behind the tip, oval, bush behind home will do. The argument was put up the parents could supervise the state forest ride area. Really? parents most parents dont want to flag marshall at race days put the club make them (and they whinge about it) so how would that work when the irresponsible parent turns up with his pit bike, puts the helmet on the kid and cracks a stubbie?I don’t think State Forests will let it happen because ya havta be rego-ed to ride in there. Unless some legislation changes are made I can’t see it happening. It would be nice and I support anyone tryin to achieve it but I just think it won’t happen cause of the rego thing. That’s why all the rides in the forest, riders have to be rego’ed and licence.
