Am old to bikes but new to adventure stuff, am looking at 2nd hand Tenere 660 as I wish to join Ulysses SIG and do the Simpson in May with friends from work as well as other rides, have heard of issues with cush drive? and rectifier problems. I am only 170cm tall & 80kg fully kitted. Budget is around $10-11k plus more for mods as it becomes available. Have ridden DR650 and although they are a good thing didn’t grab me like Yamaha does.

Questions are; will it be too tall, have Yamaha sorted drive issues, does the suspension need upgrading, have seen 2 with Leo Vinci pipes so does this improve power or affect fuel use much?

Only joined forum today and have already spent so much time reading posts so to those that have posted stuff this is awesome to novices like me. 😆

No not too tall if you ride it, not paddle it  If you think it is too tall speak with Nick at Tekinks when you get the suspension sorted. Suspension is the single best mod on a Tenere.
Cush drive not an issue if you get the bearing mod done and a double row bearing fitted. I have doubled or even tripled the rubber life since Nick did mine.
    Rectifer mod here, simple job
The Leo Vince systems sound great but Leo Vince has gone broke and closed. Get a Barrett single or twin they also sound great and you will be supporting an Old Bull supporter and an Aussie made product. I will also be fitting a Barrett system on my next Tenere in March 2014

Welcome as well champ  Where are you at?

Hi mate, sorry just saw this thread. Do you have a standard exhaust? I will take a few pics in the morning and explain if that helps as well
