Hey Mark nice to see ya here. So who had my burger? And more importantly was it a good milk shake, I like my choc double malts
Looks like I wont get on that track on the XR650 before the property sale goes through now as I am on restricted duties
:laugh:Enjoyed the catch up as well mate cheers
TB (Greg)
The Tenere’s come standard as does the BMW800 I think with bar weights. The weights that are standard on a Tenere are bloody heavy things that thread into a thread in the end of the bars. When the barbusters were fitted to my bike they did away with the weights. How well bar weights work I dont know. I have heard about filling the bars with silicon and lead in the end sections to achieve the same as the bar weights above. I will see if I can find where I read it

Quote:OK. Now runs us through what, when, how and why this happened. How did the knee braces fair?
First the brace is fine undamaged. The ambulance officers insisted I take the brace for the doctors look at for the diagnosis. I wouldn’t be sitting here at home now if I wasn’t wearing my Astisk brace I am convinced beyond doubt. Not only did the fully loaded bike, with soft panniers fully loaded land hard on my knee (which would weigh 210 kilos +) and remain trapped under the bike (thanks Lotsa
) But I was twisted around. It was the first time I have ever worn the braces on the Tenere and will always from here on.What happened, well the pace of the ride was pretty brisk considering what some of us were riding  The suspension has transformed the bike and while it feels pretty firm it is awesome and a credit to Nick and the Tekniks crew. I had been following Lotsa and he sort of lost a little momentum on a hill and I picked a different line and sort of slipped past. As I had just passed him I didnt want him in my immediate dust/ roost through no fault of his so I was pushing along. I arrived at a rocky uphill with two windrows, the first was steeper then I thought. I managed to land it but everything was pre-loaded and I was going to fast for the 2nd one and I crashed. Too fast for a loaded adventure bike  My bad. Thanks to Lotsa who was straight on the spot (saw it all happen  ) He quickly laid his bike over and got the bike of my leg, cheers mate
Scott and Lotsa righted it and Scott helped me fix my brake pedal which got some loving for its trouble  I then had to ride it out to Bulga (about 1/2 hr)where it stiffened in minutes and I couldnt bend it. The guys helped me on the bike I refused the offers of panadol etc and I set sail for home. I couldnt bend my leg to get it on the peg and the wind against it was making it hurt. I then thought I need some sort of help as I didnt want to leave my loaded bike outside some hospital. I rang Chicken and a plan was worked out. I started out through the back of Cessnock, Broke area it took me 25kms to get my leg bent enough to get it back on the peg (I had been sitting on the pillion seat doing 120kph at one stage  ) I rode to Chickens, Kym rang an ambulance and well you know the rest.Cheers to Chicken, Kym and the girls for looking after me, coming up the hospital last night and waiting till we found out what was going on and then waiting to take me home at 1am.
Cheers again Lotsa and everyone except miss personality at Laguna general store
Cheers to all that have called and the wishes past on

Quote:TB,So sorry to hear about the accident. My knee was twitching when I saw the photo’s.
Keep the ice up to it as much as possible (20min on, 20mins off). You want to get the swelling down as quickly as possible. Try and stay off it. It needs to be resting on a pillow higher than your hips. Don’t wait 5 days to see the GP. Go a get a referral for MRI. The MRI will pick up the damage regardless of the swelling.
Wishing you a speedy recovery and will miss seeing you down at Apex.
Take care,
Katgirl
Yeah cheers Kat I will do, I was wondering about what to really do and will take your advice and get the ball rolling tomorrow. I will start serious icing once I am at home this arvo as its easier then at the minute.

Seriously Greg do EXACTLY as the doctors tell you, knee reconstruction is no joke.
Will do mate the instructions at the moment are, there are no broken bones (only because of the knee brace) leave it in the splint NO MOVEMENT IT AT ALL and see your GP in 5 days because its late and we need you out of our hospital
And Maccas has no recognised healing properties, not even enough real meat in it to take away the bruising.
Agreed Bruce but its the only thing open and I had not eaten for 14hrs. Didnt eat it all anyway
