Quote:I spoke to Battye’s today and the price is $185 deliverd to your door. That’s right, freight included. The one hitch is that we need 12 for the buy. Normally he has a few customers or shop guys keen and adds them in but we are on our own on this one so we need all 12 to make it happen.6 to go people!

Quote:The route I take is going to depend totally on the bike I get , what are your first impressions of your Tenere for this type of trip?Ummm mate I am not sure yet, it I think will go wherever I want it to go, it has gone real well everywhere I have taken it thus far. Sand on any bike can be a drama but I feel it will be ok.
I would also pick a bike for the route not the other way as then you may have to compromise on things you want to see and do to suit the bike

Another thing for me was that all this style of adventure riding comes with a ride to the start and back and hrs and hrs in the saddle either on the way there or back or the ride itself, so its a compromise of comfort, cruisability, high speed running, handling, off road ability, ground clearance, power, fuel economy, reliability, availability of accessories and spares.
It took me 12 months of researching etc to decide and that even covered the ability to customise things and suppliers able to do the suspension and all the other bits and pieces I wanted done.
Where and when are you going across Australia I could be interested if you dont want to do parts on your own

Micknmeld

Was good to see Ollies gasser getting ridden for a change like its should, on the pipe and up it

Jeffro still new looking

Ash I think still going hard as he did all day

There is no way in hell you could cross “sand dunes” solo with a Tenere 1200, even with a full crew wouldnt I entertain the thought its why I choose a single even though its heavy by enduro bike standards its certainly more manageable then a big multi cylinder

So I have got the trailer back from STM (thanks for the best lunch that Salina and I have ever had mate
) Driven down the coast over two days, picked up the kids, got home unpacked and loaded the 91 pictures up on the hard drive, then re-sized them and up loaded on photo bucket  All to stop Krusty, Owl, Boony, Jeffro and the likes whinging :ohmy:OK here are some of the photos
Have you ever seen Mick’s shed this clean, no you haven’t but as I got there before him to hinder my progress, well the proof is in the pictures

The clean bench with the bluetooths on charge ready for friday

Next job was to fix the front end on Mick’s bike, he reckoned the front wheel I laced for him was of centre  I fitted it with no real drama (note the lubrication bottle on the stand  )

Carby float adjustments for Mick

The slide in a real carby

The new IRC before it nearly knocked Mick out

Checking Micks rear spokes and alignment as requested

The famous RUTZILLA of course pictures dont do credit to it in anyway shape or form
