You can pick them up cheap second hand for not a great deal of coin, or new for not a lot either. Least that way it leaves you more money for accessories.
They do everything that a dual sport bike is meant to do. Maybe not as quick as a Tenere, KTM or BMW but they will still do it.
They look somewhat better than what an old NX does and are a more comfortable ride to boot.
The new Tenere is a good bike but could be a bit high for most riders – and yes I have ridden one to make this call on it.
I havent had the chance of riding a KTM or BMW to make any calls but I am sure they would be good as well
Base your desision on what best suits your needs and budget, then you will be on a winner.
Aren’t disagreeing with you Dan
, said it was only my opinion, most definitely more comfortable then a NX as you would know having done a few miles on mine, yes bang for buck your right about the KLR and height again your right but then again its a compromise for off road ability I guess the height.
Yes like I said ride them all Corey we are all different and want different things :laugh:TB
Is this the Versy 650 you are talking about

TB
Yeah you’ll sort it out Corey, not a lot of choices for new ones under 15k
Good luck will watch with interest mate
TB
Yeah Mal 5.1 said the same sort of thing Rocket (I wear ear plugs always will anyway any helmets wind noise drives me nuts and engine noise) Guess you cant have cool air flow and a quiet helmet
I like a cool head

Ride them all mate, in my opinion only, I feel the KLR650 is a very soft off roader, very low ground clearance and pretty doughy. They have a good following and are very reliable, I had a short ride on two now and think they are far more road then off and you need to have some wow factor although they are cheap
The Tenere is far more of road more ground clearance and I am told perform much better I will be test riding soon
After that you have KTM’s, BMW’s and much more coin. My opinion dollar for perform for fun its the Tenere holds the most potential and I have been looking for a while nowMick is right about the XR650, does it all and all very well just hasn’t an electric leg and if you are doing it solo is the best bet and its does the tight the open and with fuel tank will do over 400kms between fuel stops
If Salina wasn’t interested I wouldn’t purchase a dual sport bike I would just use the XR
At the moment the Tenere has my money but it isnt a closed book yet
