OK so the four day is fast approaching, I will be crewing for Mal 5.1, we have secured two spaces in a container at Parc Ferme to run Mal’s race from to save time and energy dragging everything back home and back to Parc Ferme everyday
With help from Sutto’s we made a list and purchased so much stuff it made my head spin.
Thanks to Sutto’s for coming on board with support all the tyres, chain, sprockets, filters, safety gear, helmet, boots, Leatt etc the list gos on and on. The amount of gear purchased would run a small team  how they looked after Mal like they do all old bull members was great.Yes Mal is representing Old Bull Trailriders and Sutto’s.
We will be spending time practicing tyre changes, training ride days, assembling all the spares, checking the bike over, bedding in multiple brake pad sets (in case its a wet event) fitting a front mousse, fitting the suspension that has been stripped and rebuilt with all of Teknik’s expertise, lock wiring, making up pre-measured oil bottles for the gearbox, fitting new wheel bearings, greasing all the suspension points, organising spares kits for all locations during the day, mounting a watch on the bars, checking the Rekulse clearance, making up a card holder, learning how to tape his hands, marking the jerry cans with his race number, organising food, arranging where to mount the banners (Sutto’s and OBT) putting a fresh piston in the Husky and running it in, the list just goes on and on.Donna, oneinarow or myself will update the site every arvo and a more comprehensive report of an evening on the days events. Another Old Bull member racing is medogrocket who has been training hard also so we will be able to keep abreast of his progress as well.
Mals goal, finish on silver, first Bull home

We will have a set of tyres to give away on the ride adding to the already large prize cupboard. I reckon they should be a prize for some sort of contest, besides the obvious a tyre change comp does anyone have any ideas?
TB
I feel that I need to explain, I am not having a go at the idea and if we get onto having some made I will purchase one for the sweep and the photographer like I said I would. Its just if we make certain colours for certain positions I think people maybe could get confused. Nothing that we all do is a perfect risk free science, if it was we probably wouldn’t do it would we?
There is no easy fix but maybe we shouldn’t over complicate it either.
The thread started by Boony has been a good get it out there exercsie and AB’s posts have been very thought filled
Thats my final 4 cents worth

On ya Bollocks

Just keep it simple, one drama in how many rides all have learnt from it
If we go with special vests and they arent at the ride and people are looking for a green and there is no green or there is only a green no orange what happens then? Confusion will take over and all hell will break loose
Just like we have people just like we have

To be 100% correct I told him as he pedalled past his arse looked big in those bike shorts

Chicken nearly fell from his bike in shock  :laugh:TB
Sure I give up  , I will purchase a sweep one for my rides, and a photographer one as well, no lead but, I and my jersey will be enough

Quote:I was thinking it’d be a good way of promoting old bulls, that is get some vests made up with the name on there and “leader” or “sweep” if you like. I’d be happy to chip in as a token of my appreciation for the search party as well as all the other good work that others do and I benefit from.Thats a great idea, a hassle to keep them and get them to rides maybe. I will just run my rides as I have the old fashioned cranky way
TB
Yeah there is no problem riding with ya for sure AB especially as the TM did two non stop days

Its all good
TB
No worries (I enjoyed the laugh at that)
When your ready

Good post AB, well thought out and honest
I was taught and my view is to go to the last place that you saw someone or you know someone saw you and wait. Yes I know fuel etc can be a worry but that’s what I was taught and expect someone to do. I will also include it in my briefings from now on.
May I also add ride VERY CAREFULLY back to the last place, not tear arse in case they are looking for you. If you are waiting at the last place you were seen it narrows down the search area for the searchers as they only have to search where they have been and reduces the chances of you becoming MORE LOST by trying to find your way back to the camp / cars.
When found by the group the fuel issue can be a group problem rather then a lost soul trying to find his or her way back ran out of fuel on their ownJust my 3 cents worth

How did you go with the sizing AB?
