There is a far superior product on the market now available through SAR Dynamics. It triggers Australian search and rescue rather than a US relay and includes a strobe which makes it much easier to find you. Upfront cost and no ongoing subscription. It has a four year battery installed and is distributed by a guy who hangs out of choppers for a living rescuing people.

More info Stuntman on the SAR device please?

Good for peace of mind , Check the battery life . Some of them chew through batteries and end up costing an arm and a leg to keep the Batteries up to them . They specify Lithium Batteries only and in the regional areas they cost you about $20 a set . Expensive when they can be flat every second day and you are doing a several week ride .

I have only used the original spot myself , helps my wife feel secure when I am away by knowing where I am even when there is no Mobile service to talk to her .

Buggered if I know what spot with lithums will use batteries every few days Al, I have used a one, two and connect and the batteries last. If you use servo batteries they can eat them  those no name shit ones
Every ready lithium batteries yes $16 for 4 my spot connect takes two and works on tracking and messages for two weeks straight. Then left in in bedroom blinked for over 3 weeks before light blinked red
Connect allows you to send short customs texts as well as standard spot features

So is that it? Without being a negative nelly that is way short of what we need to keep the site open for two years (last year and this year)

Can you give us a number so we know what we are chasing.

    Hi Scott,

We need $3800 ish for the last 2 years (23 x 160) a month going forward. Considering in the past what we raised it isn’t all that bad.

    PAYPAL IS FIXED

    TB

So if we raise $3799 the site still shuts down? NO

Based on the response to the auction it is done and dusted. I did not realise there was such a big debt.

    ATM

    HI ATM??

You asked for a figure will that is it. I don’t like the money side of it but nothing is free in todays world is it!!

The debt is bigger than normal because we didn’t run a birthday ride last year. It wasnt run for a lot of reasons, simple fact is it wasn’t. As explained it is $160 / month to run given the data we use. 2 x years is actually more than 3800 I rounded it down.

Every year the site has been supported by about a small number of people, a much smaller number than use it that is for sure.

Maybe there are other ways we can do it, maybe we can use the site for different areas besides just single trail?? Forums need to be an open minded area where everyones enjoyment can be shared

    Ideas?
