Mate we (Read Nick did  ) revalved and did the forks and fitted a Yacugar rear shock. Although I am sure Nick could revalve and spring shock we tried a Yacugar

Mate it mate a huge difference, although not as good as a Tenere but good non the less

I have moved it to the Tekniks thread ;)

While we are on the topic of sand. Is the sand at the beach any different to ride than say out at Big Red?
Does the desert sand have the same consistency? It may be a dumb question but I have never really ridden the red sand and was just wondering?

IMO beach sand is finer and tougher. That said the sand in the simpson changes, if you talk with people that have done a few crossings they talk about the sand being different. Also they talk about the sand being easier in the morning when the sand is cooler.

Thats what makes sand so crappy, you dont know until you give it a go what your in for. Good if you like suprises :silly:

I can vouch for that. Poetry in motion PTW was. It took everything I had to stay with him and I was on a XR650R!

Your sand riding must have improved since Moose and I wet ourselves laughing at you on the beach north of Crescent that day
Pete really took to the sand when we went away, first time for him in the deep sand I remember when Jacko and I went on the big bikes it was intimidating until you got your head around it. Walkers crossing for me is the best sand riding I have ever done. 60kms of peg deep in spots wheel ruts you just slam through and rail it was great one of my favourite mornings ever on a bike :woohoo: :woohoo:
Sand requires aggressive throttle, weight back and steering with the pegs only. Getting started is the worst bit, like trying to ride down a steep dune that day with Mick and Moose. You cant get started to get up on the pegs so you gumby it until you can :P
If you watch the videos from big red which is proper sand riding it is super aggressive and go hard, the flip side is if you do crash it is big   :pinch:

I am surprised that there was so much grief there, Amy tells a funny yarn about that section and one of the BMW safaris
