Another thing we learnt TB is never take anything for granted when dealing with electrickery. :S

Yeah its in the last sentence of my last post

Also it shows in this case if ALL earths and wiring had been checked it would have been fixed, the K.I.S.S method, keep it simple stupid.

I see components replace all the time in my jobs when the basics have been ignored

Good job by the sparky, was interesting rereading the whole thread as the problem was worked out early

Maybe wiring hooked up wrong and the heat is because it is shorted to ground or pinched wire

Bit more of a think about this and if I was you i would check that you have good earth connections first,Not knowing what you have done I agree with TB that you should check the wiring is correct,

I am convinced it is an earth problem.

So you have covered all the basics then, all the earths are good, no pinched wires, no wires hooked up incorrectly?

    TB

It shows that electrical problems do require making sure all connections are good and clean and that earths are as important as power supplies as they provide the return path to complete the circuit and nothing should be taken for granted.

    Good thread

Shims you buy after you check the clearance $15 ea,vernier $25+, tension wrench $100+ or borrow your mates. Timing very easy if you can read engrish plenty of how to video’s on youtube and the satisfaction of doing it yourself: cost to have it done in a shop $250+ I guess its all about priorities ;) just be methodical and take plenty of pictures for backup ;) good luck with it mate

    Ollie

It is easy to check the clearances but adjusting isn’t so easy, this unless I am mistaken requires having the correct size shims, verier calipers, removal of the camshafts, timing chain on and of timing the engine, you will need a tension wrench etc.

Checking if the clearances are out of spec is easy though
