D-Rally wrote:OK so I have finally set up my spot connect. Wasn’t to much of a drama. I even found a promo code online for free tracking for 12 months and saved myself $50USD. Although it had to process my credit card number twice for some reason. Anyway I decided to give it a test by sending a predefined message.Well the wrong message came through to my wifes’ phone. Instead of
“All OK – Just got here”
She received
“Broken down – call when I can”
So as you can see I was a little surprised. Anyone else had the wrong message come through on their spot before. I’m now sending a typed message to see if that works.
No mate, maybe have them in the wrong boxes or did it wrong on your app. Try again, practice makes perfect  or ring if you get stuck

Ollie wrote:I merely pointed out a fact. that if someone where to rock up to a ride on a bike that had a plate and looked legal, who would be any the wiser ?Those doing the right thing, his mates
who would say sorry mate you cant come on this ride ?
I would everyday of the week, to protect me, the site, my house, my mates, their houses, their families and would expect most here to feel the same
If they decide to ride their unrego bike and have an accident or the boys in blue rock up well thats the risk they should be prepared to be accountable for.
Sadly it isnt that easy, then they sue someone else because they have no choice, dont be so gullible
Razz has a very good point, if we had Rec rego there wouldnt be an issue, 99% of all trail bikes would be legal.
Bullshit, 99% says who? Where did that figure come from? Why pay the rec rego Ollie had an idea leave your plate on and pay nothing who will check, you said it
As Aido mentioned $72 for rego and $16 for a plate. (NSW must have higher quality plates as they charge $40)
You fail to understand we have a green slip system, even if rec rego happened here and it wont, the rego may drop from 105 to 15 dollars (just figures plucked from the air) but because of NSW insurance system being different to VIC you will still need a green slip and that the expensive bit!!!!
The whole insurance biz in NSW is a sham and I wouldnt be surprised if their was kick backs going on left right and centre.
Yes it is
My mate Rick who now lives at Port Macquarie was hit by an unregistered yobbo on an old PE175 at wheel barrow ridge rd Colo Heights he got a broken knee out of it and no compensation, medical bills,Ambo costs etc so I know the risks and the potential cost involved, that is why I am registered.
Lets hope people dont read the ideas here and do it then eh
Ollie

I’m considering not bothering next year to be honest .. no cops anywhere to be seen where I ride (when I ride), no-one I ride with has rego … why bother??
If we had Rec in NSW I would not be asking the same questions … or considering the same “devil may care” situationMy Two Cents
RazzBecause you wont be on any OBT rides mate. While its not ideal and maybe not fair its what we have and its what we promote here at OBT.
Dream about rec rego it will never happen here in NSW while we have a green slip system, not Vics system. If we ever do something around rec rego IT WILL REQUIRE A GREEN SLIP and thats where we get ripped not the actual regoEverytime Ollie regos something this old chestnut pops up
TB
I know that OBT promotes legal riding etc etc , but honestly how are you going to police that ? no stickers in NSW now, dont hand your plate in and ride on, hopefully you wont be involved in an accident involving another vehicle etc or you happen to run across the police. Im only regoed because where I ride there is a very good chance of both. But where Razz rides up on the Mid North Coast pffftt. Nothing and I am sure that he is not alone.
My 2 cents
Ollie
Am surprised by your response Ollie and I guess if you or anyone decides to do that well its an individuals choice. This response isn’t really directed at you but a general response, its just that you suggested doing it so it sort of goes that way if you get my drift ok. So I ask why is it maybe ok as you suggested for someone like Razz just because the odds are better he may not have a head on, do the odds make it acceptable really? The risk of you hit another bike in a state forest and maybe another Old Bull or even a mate coming the other way lost or coming back to check on someone is to great for me. Imagine if either of you are injured and have medical expenses that the green slip may helped well I hope you saved the the money you didn’t pay for a green slip to help them and help you sleep. Make sure it isn’t me or one of my mates. I can imagine you whinging if the bloke that hit and injured you wasn’t insured and you had to pay your own medicals. It worries me and I hope that never happens to any of us here. And maybe this is another reason all rides will end up with MA requirements, day licenses and rego proof. Other places are doing it I just thought OBT would be different for most rides.
I pay 4 bike regos and one of them doesn’t even leave the shed, but one day it might. I never leave the driveway
without breaking a law one way or another so I won’t breech that crap to you. I don’t like paying them but I do in the hope if I need what green slip may offer it helps. I can’t justify all thats worth the cost of a green slip while I do think its to high I would rather have it than not. That’s my thoughts and opinions, any questions asked above aren’t really questions I want answered and it isn’t meant to be all at you Ollie or sound personal

For the record I hate this whole topic and cringe whenever I see it
