If I carry a couple of litres reserve I might be OK.
What do you think TB?
Is there a lot of single track or tricky stuff?Fuel range of 140km to 160km will be required thats why we all will have big tanks
Very little single, mainly twin trail and fire trails. Its a look see ride, will be checking tracks out lots of turn arounds etc

Something cheap for you

Quote:now you have got a bike with some horse power i bet your chains and sprockets and back tyres don t last anywhere near as good :silly:Yeah I was thinking the same, many many years ago I raced an XR 250 for two years I did a lot of races and if I wasnt racing I was trail riding at least 3 weekends a month every month. Peter Woods kept going crook that my chain was robbing two much power from the little engine it was an O ring and I am sure it was. After two years an engine rebuild, I sold it with the same chain and sprockets (two front sprockets)
Now I get less than 1000kms from a bling alloy Renthal sprocket, about 3000kms from a Stealth (two chains and three fronts) and am still going with my Chain Gang 4250kms (one chain, 2 x fronts)
Its horses for courses or horsepower destroys

Great pictures and report ECKS, dont stop now, I dont know what I will do when its over

Yeah cheers Al, and so true dust is the problem  , and if its not dusty its raining normally  . The tar section after lunch I explained, its not my cuppa tea that why I sold my road bike
Its hard to organise a ride that is aesthetically pleasing to everyone, we travelled those boring sections for lunch and fuel and then to hurry the ride along for people to get home, personally I didnt need fuel for the whole day and could have taken a sandwich but it was always a mix of social event / riding this ride
And again good job ladies, Racey is always there never far behind, Mrs Novice I didnt see ride but she was with Racey when they came up the big climb outa the valley so she must be doing ok and Kylie is on fire
And again I was amazed how well they moved for such a big group, well done everybody

It makes my head ache

Quote:Thanks also to TB and Dan for putting all those great trails together, there was a lot of work that went into this ride and it paid off with 30 riders moving along at a good pace all day.No you dont Boulder, you had a lot to do with the tracks and where we went as you rode a lot with us and your opinion was drawn upon with regards to track suitability, so a big thanks to you mate, “good as gold” and the day was “done like a kipper” only because of all your help

Yeah Blue I dont know what works best with chains, I am paying $180 for chains and seem to be getting real good life with the WD40 method, but is not better than the chain lube method so buggers me. Wish I still had my tin of Duckhans
Mal at Sutto’s is wanting me to try the Motorex 622 on my bike because its hard on driveline related components, Mal is normally on the money with most things he recommends so I will give it a run
TB
You are using an O ring chain arent you Blue?

Just a short note regarding Sunday’s route change after the pub, we didnt originally plan to ride to Millfield via the Bitumen, but due to some unforeseen circumstances that had come up we decided that it would be best for the group as a whole and given that some people had a distance to travel it had a lot to do with them and their travel requirements. I am sure that everyone understands this and would think it through before having a mumble

The section of bitumen to get to the first fuel stop is unavoidable due to private property and we needed fuel
