Nickj wrote:Thanks mate , I’ll do both bikes as they will be dueWhy does the cap need replacing , I’m assuming the pressure release becomes out of spec ??
Nick
The rubber perishes and its very important to keep it pressurised to increase the boiling point

No special tools required Nick. Drain the coolant, remove the hoses and I put the garden hose into the top of the radiators one at a time and flush them out. I then put the hose into the water pump inlet and run the engine with engine running watching the water out of the engine until it’s clear. I stop the bike, turn of the hose and remove it from the inlet. I then start the bike and give it a little rev to pump what water I can out of the system. (5 seconds tops of engine running) Inspect all your hoses and clamps and reconnect them. Fit a new thermostat if your bike has one(you need a thermostat to control coolant flow) and fit a new radiator cap if it’s over 4 years old its due. Fill with coolant to the coolant manufactures mix recommendation don’t run it straight if it is meant to be mixed with water. Fill it slowly and let it stand so the air has a chance to get out of the system. After about 10mins I start it and let it idle for about 5 mins with the cap off to bleed the air out. I top it up and take it for a 10 min ride, recheck it when it cools, top it up and ride it.

Don’t want to sound difficult but that isn’t a genuine helicoil kit and some from experience the cheaper kits are crap, the coils break and you end up in my trouble than you started in. The threads break, arent made from stainless, the tags snap before the thread is seated. The genuine kits are more expensive
Just saying

Ollie wrote:They should sell heapsAre you listening Mr Suzuki Honda and Yamaha
Ollie
I think they are listening, I mean that’s marketing and they are in the business of making and selling what the public want and what they can sell the most of and makes the most money. Sadly for you mate they aren’t listening to you buying 6 year old second hand bikes    Sorry
I think these are a super horny looking thing, but like the majority of the trail bike market it seems I am over 2 strokes, was a great part of growing up but the vibration shits me because I am old
and cant ride one hard enough anymore :pinch: . I liked Mals Sherco and I like the brand and reckon they would be a good second brand to have at a bike shop with a main stream brand HB.
Why would the kicker be left of, if it was to save weight I would reckon there would be more weight in the battery, starter and cables wouldnt there  Guess maybe in the extreme going a button is easier on the side of a hill
and with light weight batteries who knows how much the weight difference is?

Nickj wrote:I wonder why bolts like valve cover bolts that are removed constantly for maintenance aren’t fitted with helicoils or similar from new ??Nick
Cost mate purely cost. Cost of the coil and cost of the labour to fit on the assembly line. Like I was saying the other day, expensive brands of cars etc helicoil alloy parts sometime because the strength of the thread is %60 higher than a bolt straight into alloy.

ECKS-Man wrote:I get what you are saying TB, but on the other side of that coin, you as asking for a commitment to purchase what may potentially be a Porsche without a pricetag. Once people know a price things will sort themselves out.Just from my point of view, when I say I am interested, my sock under the bed is only so big! I have most of the retail price set aside right now, and could make up the difference, so one way or another I’ll be getting a set of braces. Not sure which model until prices come in, but most likely not the Ultra.
No I am not asking for a commitment to buy read again. I guess I am asking to make sure you are serious
Hey dont give me a hard time I am not getting anything from this only your love ECKS
Yes the ultras may not be for everybody, the Cells are a good thing and cheaper. I will buy a set of ultras because I ride a lot.
TB
Good post Nick and good video, remember to never seize all bolts into alloy and use a tension wrench as well
Thanks for sharing Champ
Nickj wrote:helicoils 60% stronger thread than the original.Nick
In Alloy yeah good information
TB
For all those interested if the price is right when I go to the supplier and say I want best price on 14 braces and 3 pull out later because they were only interested it will affect everyone’s price.
If you have decided you want a set of braces you want a set of braces, I would be interested in a Porsche but I won’t get one  . You can be assured the price I will get will be the best for a bulk buy in Aus. Yes you may buy one pair every now and again cheaper on eBay maybe and if that interests you now you should do that but it won’t help everybody else and I doubt you will get cheaper anyway. The more in this the cheaper it will beYou have no commitment to buy until I have prices for the two different braces listed above so post what you want and your size
TB
The two models I will be pricing are
