Project has come to a halt, the “excellent running condition” engine is a smoker, big time. No air filter. My fault, I bought it off a mate and trusted his assurances.
No time to put a top end in it before the day. I may have a ceremonial car park bonfire.No oil supply to the top end, 700cc is heaps! Ha, well, heaps for a 250 anyway.
How does oil get to the top end again? up a stud cavity or is there a gallery?!
Anyway, time for kibblewhite inlet valves, hot cam stage 1 and an 09 R head.

I had a customer this year who claimed the DR was un-ridable with modified suspension and no damper, that all DR’s must have dampers fitted and i was crazy or stoopid or something to not offer it as a package.

There must be more to that one, loose engine mounts? Seized linkages? It’s broken on the heat affected zone. Again.
