I cant write on here what i think of easy outs. It will be censored! I may invent some new four letter words. Try running a workshop and having 25 years of mechanics/apprentices/fathers/friends/neighbours bringing you a part with a snapped off easy out in it and asking you to pull it out.
I got very good at it, Diamond hard disintegrations help for drilling out drills and easy outs.
My disaster solving days got so much easier when i discovered Time Serts, Left handed drills, nut serts and Big serts! Here is my 5c on easy outs or any other snapped bolt remover that winds/pushes itself into the bolt.
They are all complete garbage!!!!
I have 2 sets of easy outs that I might use every pancake day. By their action they expand the bolt, locking it into the hole harder and making snapping one off very common. What do I use? Left handed drill bits. I’m on my 4th set. I use them all the time and they absolutely rock. If the bolt is so seized in that a little heat and a left hand drill won’t pull it out a bloody easy out has no chance.
I hate helicoils too. Ok for single use but crap on threads that see work. Timeserts are what you want. Again, my helicoil collection gathers dust after I bought a master time sert kit.
Just send Ash an email, we’ll get you a care pack out
I’m out, the bonfire was only worth $800 to me.
I just bid $800. That’s what I’m willing to pay to see it burn in the car park. Ill provide marshmallows.
It’s his backyard, I’m sure he knows every bump. Having said that, I agree with you Lefty, accidents happen at home
Still looks like PDS to me. Have to be a talent to stay on the damn thing
Remember, you can all recieve a Teknik care pack, T-shirt, fork decals, little decals. Just send Ash an email sales@teknikmotorsport.com
That’s perfect, I’ve got 3 vehicles that need detailing before sale. Thanks Nate
Dickie,
Those 03 525 forks were harsh from new, the 3 bushings and the 14mm damper rod displaced a lot of oil.
We did 2 mods that helped the fork a lot, remove the 3rd busing and fit a high flow compression valve.
Normally a fork service would be $176 plus $80 for seals and wipers and $189 for the kit, $445.As the inaugural winner of my first ever competition how does $225 sound? Half price.
Top one is new, bottom one is old.
Sorry usi, no new YZ…Dickie, you nailed it, what bike do you have?
It’s not uncommon to have a split to fit the inner race. but this like a crack, not a deliberate split.
I may be wrong….Ill give you all some hints
One is new, the other used.
The customer supplied the new one to me (name withheld unless he sticks his hand up)
He noticed it was cracked before he gave it to me.
He returned it to the KTM dealer he purchased it from who told him I cracked it putting it in. (It was in a sealed bag, no thanks to the dealer, they are off my Christmas list!)
Seeing as that was not the case the owner got the dealer to order in another, it was cracked too. And another. All stock in Australia was cracked, 9 bearings.
It was then pronounced “normal” and I just fitted a cracked “stock” bearing. :blink:Had a few riders take advantage of this deal, 3 sets from WA so far, with two from QLD and a few locals. Some from advrider and some old bulls.
No end in sight for the promotion, I’ve got enough parts for 30 sets when I started so there are about 20 sets to go.
Remember we can organise your freight and we have a great deal with Toll road freight, so if you live too far away, pull them out, package it up and call Ash to have them collected. -
