That sounds like a plan TB. I have been trying a fix on the broken cush rubbers for about 2000kms now that seems to work so it will be great to share notes and ideas. That ride also sounds like a plan mate!

Hi TB, this is my second set and these have done about 7000km. I recon that I need to pop around your place at some stage to figure these things out.
When will be convenient for you, weekend wise?
Cheers, TT
Great RR Ecks!
And you have to admire those V-Stroms. I did a fast 400km loop today with an ex off road racing mate of mine who rides a V-Strom. We cut through Yengo to St Albans and Wisemans and man, with a good rider those things fly on fast gravel roads (we also reached speeds of 99.5 km/h often :woohoo: )!
Enjoy the beast mate, they are great in the right hands.

Folks,
I have now clocked 5000km on the Heidenau K60 Scouts. This is what they look like after 5000km.
Front

Rear

My findings are:
On road: They are fine for commuting in all weather in Sydney. They do not railtrack on uneven road seams and grip everywhere I have ridden them on sealed roads. They are fine on fast road surfaces and corners (just ask the guys on their “superbikes” this morning that got left behind in the tight Putty Road corners
)
Gravel: Overall they are acceptable on gravel. I would give them 6 out of 10 on loose gravel. Hard packed gravel they are OK. The front does not grip well in off road corner angles and does not instill confidence in off road corners. It does stop bloody well though when upright and in a straigh line (as good as anything I know to be honest). The rear on the orther hand grips when the bike is leaned over but easily looses traction when upright.
Mud: These are not mud tyres and clog easily and make for wide eye rides in slippery mud. They are better that Metzeler Tourances in mud though but still scary.
Overall: I would happily recommend them for on road usage on all surfaces and weather conditions or for long hard pack off road surface tours. This is a very good long lasting 50/50 tyre but certainly not a hard core off road tyre.

I checked mine today and they are all broken so I ordered a new set. I will try TB’s idea on a new set and report back how its working out.

Hi TB, I think you are on to something. I am pulling mine off tomorrow and will check them out and depending on their condition, I may just grind off the teats and try your glue mod instead.
It makes sense that if we can stop the twisting and subsequent wear, they should last much longer. I will report back on how it went.

Hi Desert Matt,
I don’t know how TB finished up but I am doing mine this weekend and will take some pics and report back.

November 4, 2011 at 10:48 pm in reply to: Tenere XT660Z Barrett Products Exhaust installation #211259Thanks gents, I am very happy with the pipes. I did not get to weigh them but for weight conscious folks, I would go with the single Barrett can as it will weigh only 50% of the dual setup
I am still waiting for my DNA kit to arrive in the mail and then I think it is Tenere mission complete 😆
And yes, TB, we really have to go for a ride soon and crack a couple of cold ones afterwards!

this is a little sound file from the Barrett (it has a lot more bass than my camera captured). Appologies for the shaky video but I never claimed to be a camera man 😆

Folks,
I spoke with Jason and have ordered a black twin pipe setup with silver end caps. Jason is a top bloke and was very helpful. I makes me happy to support local
when you get great service!
I should get it before the weekend and will do a photo shoot of the install and hopefully manage to grap some sound bites comparing before and after sound
Thanks for pointing me in the Barretts direction guys.
Cheers, TT
Thanks Nickj and TB, I will give Jason a call in the morning and see if I can support our local folks in the first instance :cheer:
BTW, I would still love to meet you guys in person as you have shaped a lot of my decisions on the Tenere
Cheers, TT
Hi Nickj,
which supplier would you recommend i.e. I assume one of the site sponsors sell them?
Cheers, TT
Thanks guys, so would you recon a Dakar for the rear (running proper pressures) and a TKC on the front would be close to ideal for the Tenere?
Cheers, TT
