    Hi Kat,

I would have loved to do this one seeing as the briefing point in Dural is literally 2-3 mins from my place. Unfortunately we are heading off to the Hunter for a Meatloaf concert on the Saturday (yep, I know it is an acquired taste) 😆

Enjoy if you do decide to go!

    Cheers, TT

The boss and myself did a breakfast run to Kurrajong and passed this particular law enforcer about 200m before I turned into Kurrajong at 9:30. He came from the oppisite direction down Bells and appeared very interested in my LED running lights. I think we can safely say that we have another Tenere owner waiting in the wings!

I just hope that said officer realises that buying and then modifying a Tenere is a bit like catching an incurable desease (in a good way) ;)

    Great report Trev,

I will follow your lead (and head other opinions I.e TB and others) and will fit Mitas E09 Dakars front and rear to my Tenere at its 10K service in a month or so.

    Thanks, I am convinced :)

    Thanks TB,

I bought an Eazi out kit and followed your pictures. Removing the shear bolts was a breeze. I have just finished fitting the pin bracket and have just found out that I do not have a 27mm socket to remove the steering head bolt to finish the job..

Tomorrow I am off as soon as the nearest tool shop opens so that I can finish the job.

That said, I am very impressed with the quality of the RM2 damper. It is world class :)

    Hi Choot,

where did you get that engine guard? I am in the process of ordering a B&B bashplate and want to fit both together as seen on the B&B website.

    Good idea – PM sent

    Hi Snowy,

I measured the chin guard movement range on both my BMW Motorrad SportIntegral road helmet and my Arai XD3 cross over and both have about a 100mm chin guard movement range with the straps fastened.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Jim,

I think it has to do with the load distribution on your bike I.e. it is loaded heavier towards the rear than the front. Mine has a similar feel on loose surfaces off road, due to my setup. That is why I am adding a steering damper as I have done on my previous bikes.

BTW, load distribution issues become more pronounced on very loose surfaces and can either be fixed by spreading the weight evenly front vs rear and as close to the center of gravity of the bike (low) or by cheating and fitting a steering damper. Note that steering dampers only treat the symptoms (light bar feeling, head shakes / tank slappers etc) and not the cause. That said, it works OK for my purposes.

Hope this is of some value.

    Cheers, TT

    Hi Nickj,

the Givi side cases weigh in at 5.2 kg each and the top box at 4.8 kg. What I like about them is that they are water and dust proof and best of all, everything (including the SW mounting brackets) can be removed in under a minute (if you have the keys) :woohoo:

The cases are particularly great when you go away for longer trips where you can simply remove them and carry them like a suitcase when you get to stay in civilization (like a hotel or motel for instance).

I also like that I can lock rider and pillion riding gear in it if we get to go exploring by foot on shorter trips (and the chief helmet tapper also likes that she can add shopping trinkets obtained from these on foot explorations).

I am looking forward to catching up with you and TB at some stage ;)

    Hi Eagle

I was about to stick my hand up to join you tomorrow but my clutch cable just snapped :S I tried to adjust the clutch play and when too far

I hope to join you on the next one!

And now to order a new cable on Monday and wait for Yamaha..

in reply to: Removing and fitting hand grips. EASY!! #205605

I have found that a coathanger bend into a Z shape works wonders. You just insert one of the ends between the grip and handlebar and then simply crank the other end. This makes the coathanger “walk right around the bar (between the grip and bar) as long as you crank it and you simply pull on the grip itself with the other hand. This action breaks any glue bonding and have never failed me.

Here is a Youtube link to a guy doing something similar.
