Murph,
sounds like a great ride.
All i can say after reading your report is
ahh F#ck !bloody Diddel asking to start early. if i had of got up and went through pre ride routine of startin car and hitchin trailer i probably would have had time for nrma to turn up fix car and still make ride.
due to the early start everything was done the night before.
its easy to look for people to blame in situations like these and unfortunately Diddel is has to cop it on this occassion. :laugh:on your fork seals, Lotsa put me onto a trick for seal preservation.
cut up a piece of foam thin, bout 1/2 cm wide and as long as it takes to wrap around your fork leg. slightly oil the foam and jam it betwen outer fork seal protector/dustboot and inner seal. acts like an airfilter picking up dirt. take it out and wash it every couple of rides or after mudy rides. i had a leaky fork seal which he fixed with the old feeler guage and have since used this method and havent had a problem since. i used foam from the ironing board.
cheers
tf2went camping up there a fair bit as a kid catching prawns, swimming, gettin towed behind ski boat etc.
the goanas are pretty friendly up there. when i was 18 we did a trip up there, cooked a full leg of lamb in the ashes almost kiwi hungi style. we finsished the meat off the leg then a 2 metre goanna took of with the full bone. it climbed up a tree like in your pic with the bone and swallowed the whole bone which was a full lamb leg, fimur and calf swallowed most of it then choked and spewed it out on to my mates hilux from 6 or so metres up leaving a huge dint in his roof.
this ride is cursed before it began.
all my bike and gear is loaded. car has flat battery, no lights were left on ??????????????
Diddel just rang me his phone switched itself off during the night and has slept in.
wtf?????
anyone have murphs mobile ?
tf2
this should be a good ride tomorrow. will bring the camera along.
try and get heaps of pics of Diddel stacking it.
oh and diddel i wish we could start earlier too.
Not. :silly:
at 18 you should be drunk as ten men on a friday night and not even considering going to sleep until 6.30 am.
kids these days ??????

tf2then tryhard
we then did some more nice singles with some good littl rocky climbs thrown in and before running out of fuel headed back towards the car.
when we rode up sugar loaf hill to head back towards the car we came across this wild dog
moto tried his dog whispering skills on the dog and it looked pretty skinny and hungry. when moto approached the dog igt growled and barked at him
as Moto approached the dog he took of his helmet and said ” if this dog attacks me make sure you guys help out.
Poor dog all he could see when Moto was approaching him
we then tried to feed it a muesli bar but it ran off not wanting to be molested by Moto
the end
after this hill dan left for family duties and the boys were keen to keep going for a couple of hours so i lead over to the sehampton side. minutes after taking the lead i rode through a swarm of wild insects. one black scary looking wasp type mother flew into my helmet and got caught between my goggles and helmet on my cheek.
the fn thing started biting me so i tried to pull up quick and rip my helmet off but couldnt get it off quick with my gloves still on. all the other boys must have thought i was losing the plot.
this is what the bug looked like close up when riding t 80 km/h
i recovered from the great beast and lead on.riding fire trail over to tunnels side. we lost Moto and tryhard for a while and later moto told us he had a similar experience with a wild bug and stacking it at 50km/h sliding down the road. when he pulled the bug out it looked something like this
we then did a hill- moto
moto on first attempt
then our fearless leader dan
as the other fellas have reported after we headed to the gap for a meal break where diddel consumed a 3rd of his body weight in hamburgers and chipps we headed out towards wakefield and did some great singles. there were no photos of this section as we were all racing through.
we then headed down a very steep loose hill which dan mentioned and then had a go at a very steep loose hill. every one took at least 2 goes but we all made it up after some swearing and sweating at the bottom. I made it up first and managed to get the camera out in time to get some pics.
the hill in question was like a bill goat track which went for a fair while
try hard and moto,
Diddel on 3rd attempt, there was anger in the kids eyes
not riding christmas and boxing day hey diddel ?
bit dissapointed in you mate. wheres your commitment ?
i have of from 21 dec till end of january. will be riding everyday including christmas, boxing day, new years eve, new years day, australia day etc. (will be drinking a minumum of 240 beers every day as well)
plan is to complete 1.2 million kays of single track and rock ledges between these days.
you pussy
then across towards the gap. Murph knows this hill.
Moto and i swapped bikes for a bit to see how they compared. when we arrived at the hill this is what we saw.
there were bikes every where
Dusty,Diddle and Dan trying to get up to no avail on first go.
we all got up and then through some single
Leader down
rest to follow tomorrow
tf2a quickk bit before bed.
turned up at 7.15 am to find moto diddel and the crew
pick the diddle ????
rode some familiar tracks and some which had been graded as Dan mentioned. Dan then led up a hill near Killingworth which last time i was there didnt lead any where. a great hill would be even better if it went somewhere. Very steep and loose
Dan and Moto tried it
