ive got some pics and story to tell from the ride. dont want to start a ride report though if somebody else is already on there way to doing it.
all i can say for now was it was a great 100 kay ride for me with some old familiar tracks and some new thrown in by Dan. Some good hills, 2 of which i had to have 2 goes at.
Forgot to add.
Murph, Diddel and Moto wont be able to report tonight. Diddel will have Moto out ridin till 12 o’clock tonight. he loves an all dayer
if i can get up early enough in the morning and make it up there by 7.30am i will.
should be ok.

tf2Ah F*ck,

would have love to come along.
tf2
ive got a bbq in newy on sat arvo so if i can work it all in i will come along. ive ridden through the wallsend to gap, sugy a fair bit over the years. there is nothing as flowing and single line as watties but can still find some challenges and loops to do.
tf2
definitely no offence intended. was very apprehensive about posting.
this could be a great product, but as you said it is good to keep a open mind and hear feedback from similar experiences about products that promise to deliver so much.
When this first came up i was goin to post a reply about a similar product i use before, during and after a ride i like to consume.
seems like a few others are already consuming it.its always hard when a new product comes along that promises so much for so little.
i worked with and was in business with a bloke who spent most of his working hours and life promoting a product called “noni juice” was the best stuff of all time. could cure anything. he frequently gave specialised medical advice to any one who would listen and even the weak and vuenarable(including people who had cancer) even though he didnt have a clue what he was talking about. the product was a fruit juice and was a pyramid scheme product. Use whatever works for you, like those nose clips to make you breath easier. placebo is the best medicine.
cheers
tf2Just had a call from Diddel wondering where everyone was. Dam kid was so keen he didnt read the date properly.
He is up dungog right now    :laugh:any way he is going to check it out solo so when you do go he might have some tracks already mapped out.

Nice work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is the question related to intial risk or residual risk ????
Ollie,
would like to see the pics of your guard. Love home made stuff as you have seen from the pipe repair, workbench, dog bed etc.Axels mate Grants guard was a carbon one which would actually give structural support as it was braced at the frame. The only thing i dont like about slip on guards is they make cleaning the pipe hard. they rust and colour much easier.
cheers
tf2put me down Ollie,
is the camp spot at Frying Pan ?cheers

Nice job there mate
Now comes the questions1)Do the bolts just clamp onto the pipe? Obviously there is a rubber gasket ie the pink material on yours
2)What sort of pressures are we looking at? Can’t be much or it would blow the ends off easy enough?
Cheers
MurphYes Murph the bolts clamp to the pipe you can wrap the pipe with some electrical tape so the bolts dont mark the pipe and it is a neoprene wetsuit type rubber gasket.
pressure is about 50 psi max
Ollie
With my setup it is a little different, same principal. mine seals with conveyor belt type rubber. i also used some pieces of cut up moto inner tube to aid the seal and grip on the pipe so it wouldnt mark. on OEM pipe u could do it with low pressure 20-30 psi.
Gnarlies are much stronger steel and take longer to repair. I used 60 psi and applied heat gradually. i also attached a guage via my bike pump and once the heating started the pressure rose to 80psi. (if sealed properly they dont loose pressure)
You also have to use a hammer on tough dings/creases and lightly tap the pipe. u should use a non blemishing soft edge hammer. With my “special home tools i used a regular claw hammer. It still turned out good. With a good finishing hammer you could get it looking even better.
Once again you have to be careful how you go about this with correct safety gear and clean the pipe thoroughly before u start. I also put some CO2 into it to neutralize one side of the fire triangle

Love the vice on that special work bench mate
Great job, you’ll have people lining up with dinged pipes for miles. I’m first
Send some pics of the jigs that block the ends if you don’t mind mate and I’ll knock something up so I can have a go at Smurphs old pipe
Cheers
Murphthe missus gets plenty of enjoyment out of the way i conduct my “special projects” too Murph.
will do murph i will take some close ups and send em through when i get a chance. you with your knowledge should be able to come up with a better design based off what i have got. if you do i want one. can give some advice on it now after fixing my pipe.

Just kidding.
those hyde guards are shovels. i had a u bute $260 carbon guard which took small things like rocks and small branches when i had the OEM pipe and still put a big depression in it on my first ride with Murph.
Then i bought a FMF Gnarly and i cant find a pipe guard to fit it. have dinged the gnarly twice since then nothing major but cost me $80 first time so i will just run the gnarly bare back and fix dings when they arise.actually next project is to build a cro mo cage like the PRP guards to fit up to the gnarly. more investigations and risk assessments
