a few decided to head back after this hill. we were down to 12. as the ride went on the carnage continued with stories at our 10 kay stops of horror on the trail.
here is some examples
Justo
Ripnshred
Redders
Moto starting his charge
To start off it was yet again a great ride.
arrived at the meeting spot at a quarter to 8 to find about five people already there. Diddel was there with his bike in pieces. The kid loves to ride.
on closer inspection of the bike it seems most of the key parts like the exhaust are missing most bolts ?
how it stays on is beyond me. might be all the duct tape. when questioned on the matter diddel replied ” yeah the pipe doesnt lign up with the mounts any more so i dont use bolts ”as for the ride it was a massive crowd. 15 to start the ride.
we did the usual warm up loop up to letter A. on the first bit of single we rode I was right at the back with Diddel and Moto as the sweep. when we arrived at a little pinch climb we saw about 4 bikes in font with riders off either picking their bikes up or trying to get them back on track.
the first 10 kay loop took about an hour with a couple of stops along the way to gather all troops together and a brief rest wating for Diddel to re attach his new rear fender and tuck in some electrical wiring back in somewhere ?
Also a 530 didnt want to start, busted e start and just didnt seem to want to kick.
poor bloke must have kicked it close to 100 times next to me. we tried all tricks. he was exhausted just from trying to kick it. :ohmy:we got back to the cars and refueled ready for the next loop with plenty of sweaty tired bodies. it was bloddy hot.
We headed out up the first hill from the basin. The one with the long concrete slab. dont know what it is called ?when i arrived at the first gnarly part of the hill it was a scene of mass carnage. there were 4 bikes down. some of the sydney crew. diddel tried to pass them but ended up getting stuck

Pat,
its time you asked Aus Post for and upgrade of the company vehicle. How can they expect you too keep to your tight delivery scedules riding that POC.I can see you on a 2010 EC300.
cheers
Tf2Murph,
if the weather is good i will be in.me plus 1, another guy who is not on this site atm. maybe a new obt convert.

Will the 300 be the bike to keep a smile on my dialI went from 08 450 to 09 300 bloody better believe it will. Will take 4 or 5 rides though
Will the torque be sufficient to keep me happy coming from the 4 banger?
theres plenty of torque.you will just have to rev it a bit more till you get used to ridin it at first and figuring out how the torque works on a 300 then no problems
Will my steering damper swap straight over?
yes
Will I get someone else to swap my PivotPegz over?
no
Will my 777 race number make me go fully sik factory fast?
of course it will
Will I get used to the lack of engine braking?
after you hit a couple of trees an overun corners on your first 2 to 4 rides then sure you will. then you will hate engine braking and enjoy using brakes and sliding in effectively
Will I get so annoyed with mixing oil that I burn the bike, claim on insurance and go buy a Berg?
its not that hard write out a table on oil mixtures. get a measuring cup/device and mix. easy.
All very valid questions…..soon to be answered
i went through the gammitt of emotions (thats alot) as you did. the main point i will make is this. the 300 for me is a better bike. lighter for me, faster through tight stuff, makes you a better rider. every time i look at it it gives me a stiffy. the 450 didnt do this. When i have a stiffy i feel good.
i hope this helps.
cheers

Quote:Good report guys, other than the rain it sounds like an awesome ride. The pics look great too, I’d like to have a go at them hills and see if I can gumby my way up!Let us know when you’re doing your next one, I’ll try and get bout in November if you’re around. Might even take the new ride out!
Love to have you along moto. This is real 300 2 smoke country. even Dale who said i was crazy for gettin a 2 stroke initially reckons hes goin to get one now. Long live the 2 stroke.
We rode on doing more singles. We rode down a track were i thought we may be able to do a loop back up to the main track. Hadnt ridden this part of the area before.
This is the start of the track. Pat is keen so once again he heads in. Dont go to far Pat.Just a quick look and come back.
Any how after an hour of listening to the Gas Gas screaming and then going silent in the distance Pat re emurged on the track we had just ridden down. He decided to do the full loop and returned with stories of horror on the trail. Crossing it of his to do list. :laugh:during the hour break Dale and i took turns looking further down the hill and staying vigil by the side of the track. we came across this hill
Once Pat was back with us we decided to have a go at it.
This is Dale triumphantly returning
while Dale was having his turn Pat decided once again to do some exploring on a track to the side. So off he went again
when he returned he had a go off the hill. thats him in the hivis up the top walking his bike to the top.
Dale had enough of the exploring. on his computer we had been riding for 1 hour 45min. We started at 9.30am and it was now 2.30pm. So he leftPat and I headed back to the cars exploring some more. It started raining and was very cold and I lost my Mojo. I think i hit every rut and tree in the singles on the way back making it very frustrating. Pat was on fire at one with his machine and loving every rain soaked moment. This kid is like a wild horse.
The end.
This is near where Dale parked his van for the ride
seeing it must have thrown Dale off abit cause he had a few lay downs on this hill
Pat decided he wanted to do some exploring on a track.
I told him it was a dead end that no body rides but he decided to go any way.
there is no real track there
after a half hour of listening and waiting to his “Elite Mail Delivery Team” Gas Gas (His words not mine) screaming in the bushes i sent Dale to retrieve him.
this is Dale returning with no sign of Pat. Mind you there is only one track that goes to a dead end ?
then mysteriously Pat returns from the overgrown bush.
where have you been Pat ? He decided to try and make it through to the main road using the snow plow method.Part of the Trials test course
Pat workin his way through
Pat asks. “can we do some more “
another trail on the pat ride.
Dale goin up
Dale comin down
Pat goin up the hard side
yes it is blurry. thats why he was asked to come back down and do it again. he complained and I asked where his commitment to the hivis green was ?take 2

has to blow out some energy somewhere.
im takin him out tomorrow. better go to bed myself he has 2 and 1/2 hours head start on me already. :S
good to hear you had a good ride.
i told you that duddel brings alot of energy to the table.
he sent me a message at 7.35pm tonight. said he was flogged from the ride and goin to bed.
just old enough to vote and goin to bed just after big dog

Gday Murph,
would have loved to come but went ridin today. it rained most of the ride. all my gear is wet and dirty.
went with a few blokes one was this Diddel character.
its really good that he can combine his ridin fun with his work. He works for Australia Post and apparently is in the Aus Post Elite Mail Delivery Team ? his words not mine. (check his avatar)
any way you will enjoy ridin with him tomorrow. Young kid.probably not old enough to vote.
Brings alot of energy to the table.
take him on every F$$%%cked up trail you can find. He thrives on it.
keen for a ride monday if your up for one. i know Diddel will be
