Those flies where huge but at least they didn’t bite like the ones in the snowy mountains. There was lots of them as well!

Thanks for the day out it was fun plodding along at the back site seeing as I went along. thanks to Merv for hanging back with me until my expert water pump repairs let me down. I had a nice relaxing afternoon sitting in the shade reading a bike mag though!

hi Adam.
I would like to get out for a ride, but unable to register it due to lack of a reciept.
Hopefully I will have it registered before the holidays run out. It’s torture just having it just sitting there & not being able to ride it!
Also do you know any history of the bike?

I will have some photo’s after Christmas. I still havn’t ridden it any further than around my work as its not registered yet, but I am hanging out for a ride.
After Adam let me ride his drz, I realised the the massive difference from the 1982 XL & i havent ridden the XL off road since then.

After fitting the 280 kit to the xl I really havn’t had any problems. It just just lets you know if you don’t kick it properly and what Adam said is also true I am not pushing it as hard as I could.
We just fitted the kit & nothing else and it went better, I changed the air prefilter and it made a big improvement, it takes off between five and a half and seven thousand rpm but not much bellow that, so a different exhaust and maybe a cam may improve it even more.
I do feel that if I could afford it I would rather get a larger bike. I always have that nagging feeling in the back of my head that boring out to such a size (when ridden hard) may cause it to get hot and go pop.
Plus rego on a 250 is the same as a 400 any way.

Can’t make it on sunday Adam, i just have so much to do, i havn’t even had a chance to buy a new perch & lever yet.
Ill try & make a special apperance next time.

What did you do to Merv?… i think you broke him.:laugh:
