I guess it’s a balancing act – obtaining great ventilation without the wind noise.
I made foam inserts for my current helmet (triangle section that fits where your ear is located) and that worked fine. Can even take them out to wash them with the other inserts.
Tell me LC4, the thing off the bat mobile at the rear of the helmet – can it be done away with?

Quote:If you really want a Bell Helmet as you dont race Paul I would say buy one from O/S I bought my Bell from Giant Motocross 2 years ago it was cheap and is a ripper helmet, not as good as my M2R but a good helmet. I have had trouble at race meetings in scrutineering because of the lack of Australian standard sticker. Beware though it could affect your insurance as has been mentioned on the site before. For all that I would just find something I like in Australia with all the stamps needed

Had to go to Newcastle today so I did the rounds at a few bike shops. Only thing that comes close is a KBC. Didn’t buy it as the price was only $179. It’s an entry level helmet that looks OK but the low price bothers me. Might be OK. Will do a bit of research. Would sooner pay a bit more for a quality product though (particularly the way I ride  ).
Does anybody know of any issues with these entry level KBC lids?
Will also wait and see if others have spotted something that might suit.

… and a Happy Birthday from me Jason.
41 ay? Ah the memories …
Now that Autumn arrives tomorrow and the days starting to cool I’ll probably meet up on a ride soon.
Cheers,

And here is a shot of the other side of the bike.
Bling? Mate, you call that bling? I know of a fellow who spent over $7000 on KTM bling. Mind you, at KTM prices, that wouldn’t be all that difficult.
Good trip report there Scotty. A bit of a story with some nice pics.
I noticed one of you guys had a nice looking UFO tool bag. Can’t see it listed on their web site. Would you fwd me some details thanks.
ps Thanks to those present for not mentioning how poorly I did in the rolling race (particularly after I claimed the race before it had even begun). Who would have thought a banana would roll better than a pumpkin?

Good day out Beemer, thanks for organising the day.
Yes, I rode my new steed today (KTM400) and sure enough, true to form, the KTM tool bag got to see the light of day. With me riding sweep and all the others having ridden off from Flat Rock Lookout, the pumpkin just would not fire. Boulder ended up doubling back and lending a hand (after I pushed it up Flat Rock Hill three times trying to clutch it). Thanks Boulder for your help, and your nifty spark plug remover T driver. Will have to add one to my additional tools bag.
Good crowd, good weather (dodged most of the drizzle) and good trails.
Thanx Boulder for sweeping the morning ride and Al for later on.
I’m half suspecting Troy to submit a report ….. on his burger!
Enjoy the pics:
Looks like they used a green Pajero for some of the trails out the back of the Freeman’s servo. Can see its roof on some of the photos.
Came across one out the back of Cessnock a couple of months ago (near Draytons Winery). Was a ‘people-mover’ type van. Will have to street view Pokolbin and see if I’m a star.
Hi Beemer,
Put me down for this one thanx. Don’t usually ride much in Jan (too hot) but am keen to clock up some k’s during my bike’s warranty period. This ride should be ideal.

Thanks for the expressions of interest in the new bike guys, but best to keep this post ‘buy/sell’. Suffice to say it will be a new KTM 400. At least now when I fall off I’ll at least look the part!
…. back on topic …

Have been given approval by the Minister for Finance to upgrade. Orange is the new yellow.
Moto,
I use VideoStudio. Not all that user friendly. Took me ages to learn the basics. I dare say all video editing progs are much the same in that respect. I’m pretty quick at it now but it took a long time to get there. My family did a big holiday back in 2006 and I got hold of VideoStudio to make some holiday DVDs, mixing photos, text, video and music (eleven DVDs in total). The holiday took 8 weeks. The DVDS took 8 months!Computer Choice did a review in 2007, comparing Ulead VideoStudio10, SonyVegas, Roxio Creator9, Nero7, Pinnacle10 and Adobe Premier elements3. They recommended Roxio then Adobe. VideoStudio came in third, and was stated as having “excellent ease of use”. If that’s the case I’d certainly struggle with the others. A guy at work bought the SonyVegas, had trouble using it asked me to take it home, have a play with it then show him how to use it. No thanks – Ulead is hard enough. Another fellow had the Pinnacle(v7) and he gave up in frustration, so it’s back in its box.
You need a lot of time to get up to speed. I did anyway. Others may disagree.
Note that Ulead has been bought out by Corel and the latest version is Corel VideoStudioX2 (ie v12). That’s what I’m using as of two weeks ago.
My advice; STAY AWAY FROM VIDEO EDITING SOFTWARE – IT’S DIVORCE MATERIAL !
Well HACK there’s something you can do from home for the next few days – make sure [strike]the wife [/strike] Santa leaves a decent pair of boots under the tree. Google “Enduro boots”+review and see what is out there.
Here is a start : http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/archive/index.php/t-16599.htmlYou could even start a thread on Old bulls asking what boots people would recommend.
Cheers
