    Hi Al,

I’m actually in favour of calling it off as well, for a couple of reasons:

    1. Unfortunately I don’t think I will be able to attend either – I’ve somehow done some damage to the back of my right knee from Saturday’s ride. It was fine during the day but since Sat night it’s been inflamed and painful to walk on (I feel like a geriatric – now where did I leave my walking frame?) The anti-inflammatory medication has yet to kick in, and I’ve been on it for a few days now. Quite tempted not to go to work tomorrow to rest it up. I suspect that if I tempt fate on Sat and go for a ride I may end up doing more damage, particularly on the slippery tracks around Cessnock, which brings me to point 2.

    2. They have forecast showers around Cessnock for the next few days and into Sat. I tend to avoid that area in the wet, as you would agree, the tracks can be deceivingly slippery. Not comforting for me at the moment with this bung knee.

Also there are a few old bulls away on this day on another ride, so what say we cancel it and reschedule for a later date when you, me and others are available, in more favourable riding conditions?

Else those old bulls who are still keen to go arrange an alternate ride amongst themselves.

Now where did I leave those slippers……

Is that hill on the way out and up the track a bit further on from where you filmed the other hill we went up?

There was a hill you went to the right of to go around but Wikedbeamer and I went straight up it, not sure if Frank did as well as he was sweeping at the time.

    Hi Jeffro,

There were two I detoured to the right. Up front at the time I’m not sure who detoured and who went straight up (so much for following the leader :S ).
If it looks the same as the one that you speak of, good spotting, and a belated ‘Well Done’.
Will have to give you both a Rocky Star badge when next we meet :) .

Trying to upload some pics without any success. :S Will try again later.

In the mean time, in fairness to Frank I thought I should post this 20 sec video of him in action on a climb. This is one climb that I CANNOT get up, and here he is making it look easy. Gee I hate that! I actually detoured the guys around this one on the day as I didn’t want Frank to show them up, being a newby ‘n all;)

    Hi Guys,

What was planned to be a STEADY ride with a couple of STEADY riders (Old Al and Rogerdoger both had to pull out late in the piece) finished up being an initiation into the OBT’s jet pilot’s club. Gee you guys can ride. Thanks Frank for taking the lead from time to time – whenever I was up front I would have to pull up from time to time to remove TB’s headlight from out of my exhaust! I’ve never pushed the yella girl so hard, particularly on the way back. Good fun. Tired and sore now but worth it.

Here is a 3 min video of the ride. Will post some pics later, when they unhook me from the heart-and-lung machine.

ps Frank (the Chaser) resides in Macquarie Hills, Lake Macquarie. Last initial is P. Not yet an OBT member but soon to be.

I am a late starter, is that ok, 9.30 is the start time is that still right? Are we parking the cars up there at the carpark?

    Hi TB,

I just sent Jeffro a PM saying I should have called this the ‘Pulled Out’ ride. At the start of this week there were eight of us and now there appears to be only four standing, you will make it five. The last two casualties were Rogerdoger – rang this afternoon with a dose of Bali Belly, and a mate (Mick351) rang tonight crook with the flu as of this morning.

Blessed with perfect weather it will still be a good ride even if the numbers have dropped a few.

I will be parking my trailer at the top car park described earlier, near the large covered picnic table. One or two others live locally so will be riding up.

Will PM you my mobile and ask that you do the same.

For any ‘Hang-back-Harrys’ feel welcome to tag along.

    Cheers

    Hi Al,

There are a couple of Singletonians who may be tagging along on this ride.
One (Bear) sounds confident that he can make it, and the other (Tony) should be free of his current work committments. Both were hoping to join my ride next Saturday but things didn’t go to plan.

    Hi Jeffro,

Will be good to see an Old Bull there.

There are about 5 definites and a few fence-sitters. Should be enough for a good ride. Then again two are enough for a good ride!

Lets hope these coastal showers move on before Saturday.

I’ll be bringing the video camera so let me know prior to the ride which is your ‘good side’. ;)

    Cheers

Thanks anyway for making me feel welcome chaps, but I’m committed to Al’s Kitchener Ride on the 23rd. In fact I’m looking forward to it as its one of my favourite runs. Rodgerdoger hadn’t been out that way before and he really enjoyed it back in November (see the video I placed on Al’s post). Also if Al’s ankle doesn’t come good by then it looks like I may need to lead it.

I’ll have to settle for a trip report, so bring back some pics.

Just a note here. I am not a certain starter myself at the moment. My ankle is taking longer than I thought to heal. If I cannot make the ride then Training Wheels (Paul) has agreed to take over. He knows the area pretty well and will provide a good ride and some top video.

Hope I havn’t put you on the spot with the video bit Paul!:)

    No worries Al,

It should be a good ride, whoever leads. What say I bolt a sidecar onto the DRZ and you be behind the camcorder? Less stops for me that way. :)

Myself, Al and Rogerdodger were out that way back in November. Here is some video:

This ‘Caves to Caves’ ride should be a good one. Looking forward to lots of pics from you guys.
