    Hello Mr Blue,

A couple of years back i made one for my husky that sounds similar, just used a vice cold bent and hammer and variuos shaped items to bend around didn’t use any heat. Was a sheet of checker plate.

Biggest hassle was making the mounting brackets and getting the curves right for the profile and gap between the frame rails, had to use on oxy at work(night shift project)

Any way it was thinner and dented bit but cost was zero. I only replaced it becuase i smashed the chamber and got a hyde guarde at the same time.

But on the hyde guard i use a stainless worm drive clamp to hold it on and these work well and have copped a hammering over a few years, and would have saved heaps of time than building the brackets and lighter too.

I was p..s easy to build a glide plate but the wings are the harder part.

    good luck mate

Interesting looking trip Adrian and Menace,

Looks a bit like free style meets enduro what with the ramp shot there.
Your keen trusting them or do you check them first? we have got some where i live but they barely hold up a pushy let alone a dirt bike. There keen those MTBers they evan take dynabolts and cordlesss drills out to make bridges.

    Mal,
Yeah thanks mate for leading the ride had a ball, hobbling around work, so always a sign of a good ride.

Was good to put some faces to names and meet a few more blokes from the OBT site.

Yeah Scotty was a good sprint back to the cars, could hear that 400 hammering.

Hope all the scrapes are healing there Tiny?

I ended up taking the Bells road had a big oil slick and sand all over the road from a major prang with a detour up the wrong side of the road but missed the sunday arvo parking lot.

    Cheers

    Interesting topic Old Al,

Yep i have canned rides before think two from memory but as i have been riding with mates from the same location and travelling to ride we have changed plans last minute to head somewhere were it hasn’t been raining as much.

The promotors don’t seem to offer any thing back to the the land owners in rehabilitation so it would seem that eventually they will cose it off, its easy to see the writing on the wall.

When i was into the 4wd scene the 4wd association has some say in advising the sydney clubs on how to do things such as jamborees etc and was always fighting for access with the national parks etc, we were close to getting keys to do reports for the bush fire brgade on the amount of dead fall in certain areas that they just didn’t have the manpower to check up on but were blocked by the greens.

So it says evan if you are well represented with a registered club and a registered governing body offering something to the Govt you will have a hard time in re gaining access to a closed area.

    good topic,

    I dislike the following,
    1. Track closures

    2. Living near huuge amounts of bush that can’t be acessed unless on foot.

    3. they can mine the shit out of Castleraegh but its a sin to turn a knobby any where in this area.

    4. that greenies are so well organised with there anti – dirtbike/4wd campains, and have political power to back it up.

Yeah Mal hard choice youve got to live with for a while.
You sound like your getting itchy feet.

Is the 09 sherco a major upgrade? Will have to look online. I like the look of the yellow and black one the mags did the tests on a while back.

    G,day Mal5.1
A mate upgraded from his xr600 to 08TE510 last year, hard to say if it vibrated much cause it was wet and sliding everywhere but on the dirt is that an issue? Size wise it felt as slim as my wr250 and when moving it around it doesn’t feel any heavier.

Fork seal wise after a ride in mud/slop he picked up some grit in the seal leading to a pool on the garage floor, cleaned it with a feeler guage and was fine that was months ago and has been tighed down over night on the trailer plenty of times since, so possibly some bad luck had by some.
Give R&D a call re sensor they remove them.

You could get a test ride on one down at Motorini if you sign the ” i agree to pay the $2k excess should i trash this thing” paperwork. They did have a few demos and dont mind you going for a spin.Bit hard to find any S/T at Homebush though.

XY, went in to get something and got sidetracked in the show room.
Before i knew it i was sitting on it and was offered a test ride.
Yeah it looks good and just tipping it over it felt light compared to my husky anyway. But my tanks top heavy when full.
    Doesn’t seem big at all.
Don’t know if i would worry about the tank, its normally sitting close to body parts you want to keep intact anyway.

    Thanks TB,
You can’t beat the wear value,i didn’t think it would last that long, replaced a failed speedo drive somewhere during that time so might have got a bit more out of it.When thier new they’ve got the deepest tread i think ive seen on any tire.Probly to big for my 250.
