    Hi all,

Success, I hope. Got the parts from Suttos as recommended. Here overnight very impressed. Replaced the seal, o-ring, spacer, bolt and washer/spacer. A fairly easy task, the hardest thing was extracting the seal, which was removed with a screwdriver. Funny how i tried really hard on one spot and could not get it to budge. Moved around to another spot and it almost fell out in my hand!

    Thanks again.

Hoping to ride tomorrow with tim505 so i am happy to have this matter fixed. I note there is now tension on the sprocket by the washer/spacer which no longer spins freely.

While i was at it i replaced the lower shock bearing.

    Have a great day riding.

Thanks Bulls for the advice! I’ll put it to use.

Bergman, if the boys would stop destroying their gear i would be very tempted!

Currently 2 rms and a husky all in sick bay.

A huge thanks to Bill and his family and to all the Old Bull’s for allowing the boys to have a blast with them. They had a great time mixing up with you guys and the chats on the corner with the fellas. A great idea to double up on the corner man Dave, all the boys said it was great way to meet and chat with you guys. Thanks for being so welcoming.

The boys were devastated to leave Saturday evening but it was unit 243’s 18th birthday and we had family commitments. Thats a nice picture of him on the honda having a little lie down on his birthday (ha ha), which he was also doing this morning after a big night out.

Great hospitality, great mateship, great riding.

thanks again for a great day

Hi KTM Bull – is this a teenager friendly event, given Ollie’s description? If so could the family and I just do a Saturday ride? Need to be back in Port for young blokes party that night. If yes can you add unit plus 4 offspring?

    Being an octypus would help!!

I am relatively inexperienced at applying them, but happened to be fortunate to have tim ex TNC call around and apply three sticker kits for me.

A heat gun was certainly in the ready as was flexible plastic scraper. Tim picked a straight even centre line across the surface of the plastic, he then applied the graphic along that line, using scraper to keep the bubbles out. He then worked the graphic using the scraper from the centre line out towards the edges of the plastic, heating the graphic to shape over the curves etc. Just not to much heat or the graphic will get out of shape real quick (the wife’s hair dyer worked fine).

Apply the graphic slowly and evenly from the centre line out to the edges and dont be affraid to pull the graphic back up if it is not going to plan. It will stick again, the glue is very good.

Once completed work from the centre line on the other side.

I do get my kids to help, i hold the graphic where it has to go, one presses down on the graphic along the centre line to stick it down and another kid holds up the outside edges so that the graphic doesnt stick to the plastic when the centreline is stuck down. Works for me, ha ha, but i am a novice.

Kath got a tour of duty, as did Kram and Mr and Mrs Puddles – could be a HVMCC paddock full of old bulls.

    Hi all
I too have looked at the husky, the price for a bike with so many goodies. It seems crazy. If you are interest in all things Husky then try Cafe Husky a all about husky chat forum predominantly for US. In our family we have a husky cr125. Often have had to leave the country for parts. Highly recommend halls husky.

If you’re a husky fan google both cafe husky and halls husky.

Keep us informed of how any new rides go. I think cycle torque has a good ride report done by smartie also adb’s sam mac has a good video on youtube he has some interesting comments about the rear end shock adjustment.

Only concern is none of the pro’s seem to be willing to race it. The aus husky riders (and imports) this year are all riding the 310. Why? I am sure it would make no difference given the way i ride but leaves you with a question!

In aus trooper lu’s seems to be putting some real yards into expanding the brand so check him out (justin).

    What a Gas Gas!

Thanks to Mud & Tar i got to ride the gas gas ec 300 six day today. First time ever on an enduro 2 stroke. The conditions were damp and slippery and as usual the lovely red mud/clay of Wauchope was present over the teat loop.

Caution was the word of the moment, still firm in mind was the disclaimer signed, lots to do with you wreck it you pay for it. Started great for me, i ended up on the six day simiply because the guy pull iin beside me as said here take this. Oh okay, had planned to go 250 4t, then 450 4t, then 300ec. I was ln the 300 six day, okay what the hell!

First issue no button, couldnt start it, great what a pussy am I. Finally got it going then off we went. Got to give it stretch on the tar before we hit the dirt. It had heaps of go, and had that vibration that my 450 does not. You could tell this could be a angry beast and i should give it some respect and recognise my ability.

Got on the dirt, wet and greasy. Gave it a bit in a straight line, it was cranky but exciting. It certainly had that fun factor ready if you were. In my mind I heard myself say short shift and keep the revs down. Managed to keep the thing under control. But it was different to the 450, like every one says i did notice the lack of engine breaking but in the wet conditions it was actually better.

Survived the first leg of the tour and all was going well but i was certainly giving this bike plenty of respect. The tour lead us to a single line up a short hill all was good until the guy in front of me had issues on the 250t. When i thought we should be given it to it to get up the slope in the slick condition we had to stop. I watched the guy in front of me restart having all sorts of trouble and trenching out the slope in front of me. I Am thinking crap this is going to be bad, this three hundred 2t is going to be all over the shop when I restart. Okay i am up, clutch out 1st gear low revs and it just pulls like a four stroke, smooth as and easy. Compared to the 250 4t in front of me i was on a cruise ship. Simple strqight to the top easy as, traction was good, didnt get up in the revs, and it just tractored! Not to bad.

Nearly all the way back and we have to pull up and wait. The guys im with start talking about the mapping switch. Oh what’s that, switch the little red button off sunny. Okay give that a go. We take off again, hey this is a different bike, this is whole lot easier. In fact this is fun, wow this is different, give it bit without the anger, mu h more friendly. Great ride, fantastic can i go again, light smooth and easy to ride. Great bike wish i new about that switch earlier.

My son got a crack on it as well. At 17 he loved he, i told him about the switch. He rode both switches and came back with a huge smile on his dial. Can t stop him talking about it. If he has his way there will be a new ec300 six day in the garage for me of course – he mentioned something about fathers day, cant blame him for trying.

Thanks to Rod and Tracy at Mud and Tar. A great day, i only wish i had more time to spend out there, i wanted to try the 450 but had other commitments, which disapointed my son.

I am far from a good rider, but i had a great time on this bike and would recommend you give one a go if you have an opportunity.

Adding a bit of culture to this story —

In Shakespeare’s play Julius Caesar the Soothsayer told Caesar to beware the “Ides of March”, the 15th being his date of death.

Perhaps TB is a Soothsayer and whilst I believe the Ides of September is the 13th, Soothsayers suggest wait a couple of weeks.

in reply to: When to Replace bearings? #207134

    Paul Fahey

Hi all, i run 5 bikes for my four kids and myself. Therefore the reason why i needed to learn how to change my own bearings. I have found no consistency in the bearings time frame to fail across the bikes owned. Whilst i do check them i always seem to still get caught at scrutineering, so i obviously dont check them often enough.

The last set failed just after putting a new chain and sprockets on. I am sure that they were still pretty solid when i put the new chain and spockets on. The kid had one ride and then bingo at scrutineering. I wonder if the new chain and sprockets placed additional pressure on the bearings bringing on the failure?? The Weakest link!
I certainly have no set time to change the bearings and normally pick the movement up when grabing the rear wheel in the trailer.

Certainly found the replacement process easy and relative cheap.
