    Nice Shots Polly 400.

Particularly like the shot of Wally Boy cuddling up next to his Pumpkin. What was his excuse, conserving energy?

I think your references to Dave might be to George.

It would have been a great ride.

    Hey Wally Boy

I am sorry I missed the day. Sounds like you had a ball. I would have been thanking George for some R & R on the trail. I presume George is the George we both know! If so it would be typical for George to have two flats in a session – always doing things to the max.

One of your normal rides ending in the darkness. Aren’t those enduro headlights just wonderful when the sun goes down, may as well have a box of matches. I still remember the time you lead us out of Bulahdelah at 4pm on our way back to Stroud with a couple of locals – we ended up doing trails in the dark – why not add a little more thrill factor to the day.

A ride with Wally Boy is always a great and full day out. Sorry I couldn’t be there.

As you said – Next Time.

    Hi All

I have quite comprehensive life and income protection insurance. However it was taken out before I became a rider. Which I think makes a difference. I dont race either.

I have broken my leg riding and when I accidently bumped into my insurance rep he told me I would be eligible for a claim. After quite a deal of paperwork I received 8 weeks income cover for a broken leg. I didnt even have to prove loss of income and I was able to go to work (office worker). The immobilisation of my leg created an automatic payout.

Through the same agent I tried to get a pro-rider income protection. They wouldn’t even consider it. The issue was his ability to return to same work after his accident and generate the current level of income. Most of the policies have a return to work clause that contains same occupation criteria. They told me at the time – how do we get a broken up professional rider back riding and winning so that he can earn his/her money again? I had no answer and no income protection was provided.

Good luck with cover hunting – someone suggested combined insurance – I believe they do offer a basic cover for racers. But I dont know if it would be enough to pay the mortgage if it was a long term event.

Death and permanent disability in super is great but the conditions for permanent disability are tough and I would check into the release conditions before relying on that options. Obvious death is a no brainer.

An insurer that could provide a solution to the rider/racer cover would be a great contact and I am sure could do some great business if they took some advertising space on this site.

    Hey Corey8

Could you please let me know some more details such as expected start time and finish time? I cant commit yet but if I can get the stars to align I might be able to find the time to get up your way.

However as mentioned it is just wishful thinking at the moment.

TB, had a flat last weekend!!! Ha ha (not)!! But it was my opportunity to put the theory learn’t from the video into practice. Got some new levers in anticipation of giving it a go and sucess on the first try, tyre off.

Today armed with a new heavy duty tube and after a fresh watch of the video, I hit the shed and I got the thing on, and only a couple of scary moments. One being when the lower bead of the tyre got caught on the tube and valve, just couldnt get it to work like in the video. Fortunately had a good look to see what was going wrong and identified the issue before any major damage done.

Happy to say that I now know why the longer levers have the bend towards one end – and its not for ergonomics. Its so they bend over the upper bead when putting on the lower bead.

The video was a great help and thanks for the guys who put it together.

Please remember that these types of video’s are great and what you seasoned guys regard as easy and straightforward are of great assistance to guys who haven’t been around bikes long or have been taking their bikes off to the shop.

    Keep producing and posting them.

PS: Didnt use a mallet. However I also wouldnt have the levers I used on the trail with me either!

    Hi All

Thanks for your responses and sorry about my delayed response.

I considered Mick’s response and thought hmmm, have to take another bike to the mechanic anyway, haven’t really got the time to do them, what the hell, take both bikes and get the KTM’s value clearances checked etc.

I will try my hand at something easier.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Huskybloke

I have been advised that I will not be around on both weekends. I have spoken to Tim505 and John and they cannot commit to doing the ride so I will have to pull out of my reserved spot for three. Sorry for the inconvenience but I am sure that three guys on the reserve list will be really happy. I am sorry that I cant make as I know WallyBoy from Sydney and I was looking forwarded to catching up with him for a ride, its been a while.

Another educational video. It looked so easy for the stars in the video almost like they were fitting an 19″ tyre on a 18″ rim. I have tried once to change a tyre using only two of the very short levers. Didnt get in done – shame!!!

Took it to a mate who also used a rubber mallet to beat the crap out of the tyre and get it on. Unorthodox? It worked?

Great video and I am feeling much more confident about giving it ago again. But I plan to get a set of the long hand levers before hand.
