Actually the Yamaha site doesn’t say what warranty comes with the Tenere

I guess it really depends on ones intentions for the bike.
I know one thing, I wont be buying another BMW without first reading the service requirements in detail.

Oh man, I just looked at the Tenere at the Yamaha-motor site.
It must be built like a tank, it is 50Kg heavier than a BMW G650X Challenge.
Although the BMW is not made anymore you can still get a good one covered by the original warranty.

Beemer – The IRC will be a good choice too but they seem to be real hard to get now.

The IRC will be very hard to get from now on.
I was told IRC got taken over and the new company upped the price so the Aus importer couldn’t retail them for less than $140 ea and they think they wont sell any at that price, therefore they are not going to bother importing them :(
    I bought an S12 from Sutto’s

    What caused the trouble TB?
Was it an accident or a gradual thing?

    131hrs.
Broke a plastic shroud, replaced by warranty, plastics were meant to be unbreakable so the recalled the bike and replaced them all.
Put a stick through the radiator – repaired.
another stick broke a temp sensor – repaired
Thats all apart from me falling orf, bloody good bike really.

So how do you get around the 120km/h error log on the beemer on Wikd??

    Easy, just ignore it.
Warranty is as good as trashed anyway because I didn’t do the 70hr $3000 service.

    Welcome to Old Bulls Allan954.

I think any of the low maintenance 250cc bikes will have you a bit dissapointed since you obviously like the power of the Fireblade.
DRZ400e is a good all rounder, especially with the suspension modified for the rider.
I think the newer KLX450 is too but I dont know its service intervals. The KLX is a bit tamer than the real competition bikes so it might be a good option compared to the almost 10 year old design of the DRZ.

Have you thought about a 2 stroke bike?

Hmmm I have a problem. No not the obvious, another one.

While visiting TB tonight talk got onto the 4 day. TB reckons that I should enter :) and Kylie said yeah thats a good idea.

    BUT

Now that there is talk of an Old Bull piss up :)

    There lays the problem

    What should I do?

I think you should try the 4day but swear yourself off the grog well in advance, and stick to it at least until the ride is done.
Just do it for the ride and the experience while you still can, trying to win would probably end in tears anyway.
Then you can sit back, have a beer or whatever and enjoy the photos and memory with friends & family.

I spoke to TB this morning, he’s in good spirits and hoping to be discharged from hospital tomorow.
He wont be riding until the Docs give him the OK so yeah, about 6-8 weeks they say.

like I said a bit of experience, just gentle heating and use of the squeegee , sometimes lifting carefully and going again. Its a bit of experience that keeps you looking ahead for potential problems also which keeps you outa trouble.
PS we have some shapes for the beamer ie shrouds rear guard swingarm and siddee of front guard, rears a tough one to apply though I think.

What is “siddee of front guard”?
I am semi interested in what you can offer for the front guard and swingarm, more for scratch protection.
Also BMW have a sticker kit for it which includes deep blue stickers for the lower fork protectors, they looked really nice on the demo bike in the Kariong dealership.
It would be a definate sale if you could do something like that for me.
I will try to get a decent photo of them.
