Champo, mate, I need a crew for my boat if you’re interested this summer?

    It’s a 16′ catamaran.

You can swing off the trapeze and manage the jib or steer if you’re up to it.

Heaps of fun, and its good brain therapy too.

Thanks to all. My first two rides with old bulls, have been very enjoyable. I hope to do many more. I,m always short on words when I have to type.
    Thank you again, Ross:woohoo:

Cheers Ross for your report mate thats a cracker good job, I forgot you where their on the day you are the quiet achiever ;)

    TB

Ross was my ride buddy for the day, every time I looked for him he had already spotted me and acknoleged me every time – good job Ross.
You will enjoy riding with Old Bulls, it is a fantastic group of people I think.

Well I thought it was an excellent ride, well planned and well organised.
With TB running the ride AND this site, I think we are in good hands – well done TB.
I will be happy to sweep on the next one or do what ever is needed.

    Points I remember;

Trying to wheely over a little mud hole and the back wheel going down, down and sideways until the bike went left and I went right! Kylie offered help but I didn’t need it, thanks Kylie.

Speaking of Kylie, it’s been said before but your confidence is good and riding is impressive.

My only regret is not powdering my butt before the ride. The beemers seat must be the hardest one ever made for a motorcycle.

I really enjoyed the open sections through the country, even the tar.

Als trials tyre was picking up these tiny little pebbles and showering me at one stage, I didn’t think they got that sticky on the dirt.

I look forward to the next similar ride.
Well done everyone for keeping it together and not getting any flat tyres or other damage.

I know Mal, thats why I put it in the “gay” activities section.
I’ve seen that Hydroptere before, impressive!
They must have pumped some money into that!

I like how the helmsman sits and drives it like a car.

Thanks for including me, I will carry a couple of litres in my pack and a few extra tools.
I will bring my color GPS too, it has topo maps as well as the Garmin maps.

About the grade, if Kylie is keen for this ride and confident then I guess I could manage to keep up (although she was passing me on the last ride)

    This looks interesting.

The Beemer has a range of 100Ks on dirt, I see on the map a straight line from Gloucester to Monan Flat is 70ks.
If I carry a couple of litres reserve I might be OK.
    What do you think TB?
Is there a lot of single track or tricky stuff?

Also WikdBeemer I actually stopped to help you when you got your bike stuck along this section (even though I’m a girl) because I’d seen a heap of guys go past and not stop to help. I know I probably couldn’t do much but I couldn’t just go past without stopping. By the time I had parked my bike though some others had stopped so I started back up and took off.

    Cheers Kylie.
I was impressed by your riding too and a little embarrased you overtook me so many times and then splashed me with mud (accidentally):) it’s not a good ride if I dont finish filthy with mud.
I had an excellent day, thanks TB and DanD, your efforts are very much appreciated and you led the ride very well I thought, so too for every one who helped in some way.
I dont know where the orange vest ended up but it doesn’t matter, I have another one.

    Thanks every one.
    Beemer.

    Thanks Al
I was going to take 1ltr reserve water but not now, the bladder of H2O will do.
I will be carrying 1 litre of petrol reserve though.

I was reading this thinking a DR is too high for Mrs.D but with 17′ wheels obviously not.

I had road and dirt wheels for my DRZ400 and they are a great bike on the road as well as dirt.

Now I miss that bike, I wish I’d sold it to the D’s.

We use UHFs with our DSMRA rides. We regularly have 15 to 20 riders and usally have around 10 radios spread out through he group. They work well for relaying messages to the lead rider but are really only good for a few kms in the bush.

Get the 5W units as they will transmit the furthest.

As far as channels go, use any channel with no one on it. 40 is the truckie truckie channel. I think 1 – 9 are duplex channels, which are for transmitting further via a repeater station.

    mal5.1 is right.
I have a 5watt unit, will bring it on Sundy along with a channel list.

Ch29 is heavily used by trucks on the F3
It is illegal to use 5 and 35 except for emergencies
There are a couple of other reserved channels for 4WDers etc but I cant remember which ones ATM.
