Wikd beemer, Does not your manual for your BMW say, “Do NOT Add Additives to Fuel system or Oil system?”

Yes it does, but I probably wont do the complete engine pull down and replace crankshaft bearings at 70 hours (like it says to on the Rep ROM) anyway so what the heck?

I really doubt that will happen, the stuff is designed not to have any adverse effects like that.

Actually I correct myself; the Beemer’s book only says to use 95 RON fuel, nothing about not adding things like valve saver.
At the risk of being wrong again, I would say your Husky manual was written before BMW took control of Husky but there are other reasons they might discourage additives in the fuel (eg: snake oil etc).
I have decided valve saver (FlashLube) is a good idea because they testify (almost) it is good for all modern motors as well as the older lead reliant ones for several reasons, one being it is a complete upper cylinder lube and my bike only has one compression ring!
Also quality and purity of petrol is an issue, refinery output varies and petrol can (and does) get contaminated by the time it gets burnt.
They say valve saver helps overcome these issues and helps keep the valves cooler and cleaner as well as lubricate. It also helps clean my injector.

TB: XRs and diesels are different to what I meant by “modern bikes”, the XR valves & seats probably had industrial diamond dust in them :silly:

What I like about the Dunlop 952 is the grip and the knobs dont break off or tear apart.

The banana bikes can also do with 10mm extra length on the rear shock, it improves the steering angle and is simple to do for someone who knows shocks I believe.
Mine was done by Chris at Southlakes Motorcycles (Morisett)

I didn’t get itchy, used a vacuum to catch it but then discover the blackness everywhere.

It’s very much like fibreglass hey.

Could somebody please make a decent radiator guard for the Beemer 450??????

BTW, Eagle; the Carbon Fibre was no good.
By the time I had cut 4mm slots 4mm apart, staggered it was as flexible as plastic, or the ally pictured above.
And that would have restricted the air flow by more than 50%

And fark me what a mess!
The whole shed has a layer of black fine dust.

At least I now have a good mask for the swine flu.

Thanks for trying though Eagle, I still have one of those pieces left if anyone needs it.

I once rode my banana into a tree, a tree which had fallen down some time ago, so there was like a thousand pointy sticks all horizontal, pointing directly into the corner which I had over cooked.
No hope of evasive action, not even time to lay it down the DRZ goes straight in with me on board.
To say I shat myself is an understatement! Think of those people on the Titanic watching the life boats row away, that’s how I felt.

I had my enduro jacket on and it saved me.
The bike was stuck in the spears, took 2 of us to pull it out and it never fell over.
The B&B rad guards had bits of wood wedged in as did the fork protectors and other parts of the front of the bike but no real damage and the actual radiators were undamaged.

    That was extreemly lucky.

I now wear full body armour, knees (had them in this spill) etc and never ride without.

I have a rough memory of the area but haven’t ridden it in years.

It was recommended to me, to stop the occasional ping that the XR has. I haven’t tried it yet though. Anyone got an opinion on that theory?

My XR270 used to ping like a bastard on normal petrol, much less with 98 octane gas.
I used to add octane booster to the 98oct and it ran really well.
I think you need higher octane not valve saver.
Apparently valve saver also boosts the octane a bit.

I am registered and heading down Saturday evening with a few mates. :woohoo: Arriving about 7.30 am Sunday for unload and customs check, so let me know if you want to catch-up. Hmm, being seen with an oil burning 2T may not look good for the holder of F1 BMW technology.

I am going on Friday afternoon (not camping) and meeting up with 2 others on Sat afternoon.
Look out for me at the ride, I may be catching up with people, Popgun is going I think and there may be some other old friends of mine there.

Anyone travelling down on Friday afternoon, call me up on UHF 29 or 40 if you have a CB, callsign; wikdbeemer.
