Flame suit because you ride an XR 400?
Not here! More like need a pair of waders……..
Be more leg humping than flaming from the guys that ride / rode em.
AlThough getting bit thin on the ground now, only due to ‘ updating’ to find they weren’t as quite as impressed as first thought from all the advertising hype.
Ya will need a thick skin though, the insults can fly at times, mostly in jest and even out ourselves at times too.
Here would be ok for noe I think, as it has an intro of you.
But ride info usually goes in the ride gathering section.
One thing though (maybe a Mod will clarify for me, used to be the go ) , I think the bull pit is the only place for uncensored language, and even then some are not that welcome.
Anyway, welcome to the mad house! :silly:

Well excuse me. You sound like the expert here. You might want to head over to battery university and do some reading old bull.
My advise on Li-po applies to Li-ion as well. You may also be surprised to know there are/were mobile phones that run Li-ion batteries.
And so I correct my previous mention of 50% storage, apparently 40% is the better storage level. The only point to what I am saying is if you need to store your lithium motorcycle battery for a long time don’t charge the crap out of it before you do. Also the enemy of most if not all types of batteries is heat and over charging.
My signature disclaimer always applies.
Yup! Expert= X- un known quantity. Spert- drip under pressure!
You’re right on storing Lipo, however they are different in charge cycles, Lipo are not made to be fully discharged they aren’t ment to get lower than 3.0v per cell and no higher than 4.2v per cell. Fully charged.
Lion batteries Suffer memory effect if just topped up, the are best if as close to fully discharged before regarding.
And the ph using lion is correct too, and would use the appropriate charger. As has been discussed in relation to battery types. Lion are charged determined by total voltage. Lipo are charged by cell count not voltage.
Lion batteries are charged as a unit even though they are made of cells similar to lipos. You can charge lipos in the same fashion, but work best when each cell is charged individually. Also helps to keep a check on cell condition.
automotive Lipo batteries have an onboard management system.
Mobile ph batts are Lipo, the bike one it Lion. Different beasts altogether.
I’ll be sticking with my $36 Sla from jaycar, been in use since 09, only had to charge it a hand full of times.

The spouse that is supposed to pay that minimises their earnings to below 20 000, by being ’employed’ by their new spouse therefore deeming the parent that has the children thr majority of he time has to pay support to the one that minimsed their income to be below the main carer!
Then brags to their youngest son they bring in $75 000
Then there are the blokes that pay for up to and more than 10 years only to find out they were not the father and no way of getting their hard earned rightfully returned to them!
Hey STM, have you looked at stocking leky mtb bikes? Guess it’d depend on interest / demand.
Wonder what it would cost to hire one for the day………..
My issue isn’t with mtb riders at all.
It’s the perception.
It seems ok for mtb riders to alter terrain to suit without any quorums from the public.
But dirt bike riders are vandals if we deviate from fire trails.
You’re right STM they don’t have time to give any background info that the tassie government / forestries are involved in the process.
If no spark, check the fuses, may have shorted and blown one.
Check if all the lights and indicators are working, may indicate a fuse is blown too.
Take your air filter out too and give it a wash and re oil, may be sucking just enough water to upset things.
It’s efi isn’t it? Put ya ear to the tank then turn the. Key on and see if you Han hear it prime.

The valves and seats must be far better than the 250 :silly:
Mate had one, knew when it was time to adjust them, the stinker would not kick start but push it a few meters…….
Borrowed it to do my P’s on. Started fine at his place fine, rode it a few kms to the rta, come time for the test it wouldn’t go.
Wasn’t a consistent thing like every 1000km or the like, just when it felt like it. :p
Apart from that it was an ok thing, guess bit like a water cooled XL.
Anyway this isn’t really on topic.
So are they in need of regular valve adjustment like their smaller sibling?
Another 640 rider, good to see!
Welcome.
What year’s you bike?
You’ll have to see if you can convince ya mate from Shepp to sign up.
